Picovico is a video creation app that automatically creates a beautiful video from a selection of users’ online content—videos, photos from Facebook and Flickr, text and music. Videos can then be easily exported to YouTube. The idea for the app came about when its founders realized that they could offer people a way of transforming their amateur-looking pictures and videos into high-quality digital content. Once Picovico had developed an app with the ability to create a video within an impressive 30 seconds to a minute, they were off and running. So far, Picovico has had 50,000 downloads from around 100 countries. It’s created 500,000 videos from mobile applications, and 86 percent of app users are returning visitors. Most of the Google Apps contribute to the smooth running of Picovico’s business. Android has been an essential distribution channel in expanding the company’s reach. But it’s YouTube and Google Play which have really enabled the company to grow—YouTube provides vital exposure for videos created and shared by Picovico users and Google Play is where the app can be downloaded. The app is rated 3.8 and over 400 people have recommended Picovico on Google+.
