YMCA Before and After School Child Care Program
In the spring of 2014, the YMCA began management of all operations of the Willoughby-Eastlake City School Latchkey programs. The YMCA has officially licensed, through the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the before and after school child care programs. The mission of the YMCA is to continue excellent care for your children and will include: • Small ratios per staff (no more than 18 children per staff) • A site administrator which will be on site for at least half the hours of operation to manage staff, schedule programming, and answer questions • Healthy afternoon snacks consisting of 2 of the 4 food groups (monthly snack menu posted) • Continuing education for staff including, First Aid, CPR, Communicable Disease & Management of childhood Illnesses, Child Abuse Prevention, specialized training for handling of materials such as inhalers and epi-pens. • Rooms licensed within the school buildings to include gyms, cafeterias, computer labs, library and playground • Children will be grouped by age • Planned activities and projects • Monthly Newsletters • Continual updating of materials and supplies For the upcoming school year, the YMCA will be offering “School Day Off Programs” on several days that school is not in session. These days include: NEOEA 10/17, Professional Development 11/04, Thanksgiving 11/28, 12/01, Winter Break 12/22, 12/23, 12/26, 12/29, 12/30, 1/02, MLK 1/19, Presidents’ Day 2/16, Spring Break 4/02 – 4/10
