Why Winter Isn’t My Favorite By: Isaiah Cayton

can also waste a lot of money during the winter, for things you don’t need during the summer. One way you waste money in the winter, is heat. Winter is cold we all know that, and we want to stay warm. So we need to keep the heat on. Heat is a very expansive utility, and is necessary. In your care you go through gas a lot faster too, heat uses gas. Gas is very expansive. Also a good winter coat can run you up to $100, which is kind of a lot for a piece of clothing. During winter there are also a lot more deaths, than any other season. During the holidays some people will get drunk and still try to drive. They crash. Also when regular people are driving they can slide on the ice and end up in a crash. Also some people will get stuck in a bunch of snow, they will either suffocate, or get hypothermia and die. That is why I don’t like winter.

Krampus By: Kaitlin Ceder

I really don’t like winter. It sucks, in my opinion. I’m no longer allowed to go swimming in outdoor pools. I can’t play sports I enjoy like, soccer, basketball, football. I also can’t really go outside and just walk around. I not as able to get exercise either. You

Have you ever heard of the Christmas legend Krampus? It is an old myth that Krampus follows Santa around and terrorizes/punishes the bad children. He is the opposite of St. Nicholas, and they are considered companions in some regions of Europe. Where the legend came from is unclear. Some traditional parades still occur in some Alpine towns that feature men in Krampus costumes.

Volume 2 Issue 4 Krampus appears in many variations but usually he is a brown furry creature. He looks like a devilish moose of sorts. Krampus is often seen carrying chains. Europeans often exchange greeting cards featuring Krampus. They often are humorous and/or contain rhyming. He is often depicted menacing over kids as if he’s about to torture them. More modern versions have a cuter, more friendly looking Krampus on them. There is a movie coming out on December 4th of 2015 called Krampus. The movie is about little Max has a negative attitude towards Christmas. This unleashes the Krampus, a demonic creature intent on pushing belief into those who don’t. The whole family is stuck in the house with the demon. The Vapid and Delightful Joys of Winter by Cynthia Salinas

The first tells of winter are those little, white flecks erupting from the sky, that blanket entire cities and neighborhoods. One of the most satisfying experiences is to watch the first fall of snowflakes of the year, the day that officially marks the beginning of winter. Children rushing to windows to witness this event, to see the snow

build and accumulate. Hopefully enough for a snowman. A beautiful sight to see snow carpeting the streets, trees covered in a sheen of frost, cars layered in sleet and ice. The ubiquitous, blinding loom of Christmas and other religious holidays that get shoved under the rug... Hot drinks and warm meals. In store seasonal items shoved in your face. Candles, decorations, and candy. Rival snowball fights, engaging children in throwing packed balls of soft ice at their peers. Each one suited in a new slick winter coat, insulated snow boots, fuzzy earmuffs, cloaking scarves, restricting gloves, and snug hats. Hot, stuffy clothing that you sweat and burn underneath. We live for moments like these. Snowball fights, holiday parties, family gatherings. That moment when the whole family is sitting down in sweatpants, ugly Christmas sweaters, ridiculous socks, and telling stories about past Christmas’ or tales from childhood. Now, as pretty and enticing as that all is, after the initial snowfall, your response isn’t as magical as the first time around. “It’s snowing, again?” Your expectations of winter have been succeeded and snow grows to be mediocre. Your next worry is how cold it will be, the amount of snow you’ll have to shovel, the ice to scrape off cars, frozen or burst pipes, salted roads, slick patches of concrete that wind up with you prey to vertigo, POWER OUTAGES. And of course, anticipated snow days, that collect and are paid for at the end of the year, further stunting summer vacation. Or losing that small, useful brick in your pocket to battery

Volume 2 Issue 4 loss because of that POWER OUTAGE. You know, that thing you can’t go a minute without, that if you don’t have it, you feel naked in public. Which is all the majority seems to care about in a winter power outage, these days. In which you have to compensate for lost heat due to the deadly winter, all your food spoils within a matter of days (hours depending on what lives in your fridge), there’s no hot water, and it’s not a gleeful time if you can’t open the front door to your house without an avalanche of snow being released upon you. Having to brave the drive or walk to the store for food and supplies, the roads congested with snow. And worst of all, the overwhelming amount of holiday selfies and soul sucking mobile games, seeking to reap in profits. Not to mention, the complete lack of daylight hours in the winter, or how freezing temperatures are akin to the cold embrace of the grave. How colorless and hollow the environment is. Everything is flat, gray, and lifeless. The only definable light you’ll find, is from oddly distanced street lamps, or a houses’ illuminating, over-the-top Christmas lights. All this hype of Winter that dies after the first blight of snow, leaving it to cower in the shadows until the next year. I love all the Winter past times and rituals, but there are definitely drawbacks to the winter cold slicing at your skin and the dryness of the air inciting countless nosebleeds.

Winter Treats By: Charley Clapp

If you live in Iowa, you know our weather changes like crazy and you're often stuck home either snowed in, or home for whatever other reason. But here's something you could make to eat when you're snowed in this winter! You could make a brownie in a cup! It only takes five minute and is very simple, being in a cup because there's no possible way to leave crumbs behind, an easy fix to a mess! You could also add ice-cream to the top to make it a chilly tasty treat, the only downside is you can only make one at a time. You could also have some hot apple cider to warm your body and calm you down. Apple cider is a very fast and easy treat to make and tastes delicious, I'm not even sure it's the winter without some apple cider or the occasional coffee!

Volume 2 Issue 4 soccer. A set of rule changes drawn up from 1880 onward by Walter Camp, the "Father of American Football," established the snap, eleven-player teams, and the concept of downs; later rule changes legalized the forward pass, created the neutral zone, and specified the size and shape of the football.

By: Jordan Peterson

American football (referred to as football in the United States and Canada, also known as gridiron elsewhere) is a sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with control of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with or passing the ball, while the team without control of the ball, the defense, aims to stop their advance and take control of the ball for themselves. The offense must advance at least ten yards in four downs, or plays, or else they turn over the football to the opposing team; if they succeed, they are given a new set of four downs. Points are primarily scored by advancing the ball into the opposing team's end zone for a touchdown or kicking the ball through the opponent's goalposts for a field goal. The team with the most points at the end of a game wins. American football evolved in the United States, originating from the sport of rugby football. The first game of American football was played on November 6, 1869, between two college teams, Rutgers and Princeton, under rules resembling a mix of rugby and

Volume 2 Issue 4 Because you never know what will happen when you put the ball in the air. Plus the way you have to work as a team to score or it don’t happen. Then you have to think about the gear and shoes you want and like. Personally my favorite thing about basketball it getting to pick out shoes. Because you have a range of options from lebrons, jordans, kobes, ect. Personally I like lebrons and jordans if I pick because that is my opinion on shoes. Another reason I like basketball is because you can get friends to sign up and play the sport with you. Plus if you have a sports rival you can show them what you got. Stored away and been practicing on that is top secret to you. This is why I love basketball so much and why I play and practice on my own time. Basketball By: Cayden Rowell

Football by Alejandro Chavez 7B

My favorite winter sport is indoors. It is basketball because I love it and I don’t know why. It is just addicting to me somehow I love the concept. Also the way it is played because it is a challenge to get the ball through the hoop. Also it is super fun to play against other teams.

Football is a historical sport from the 1800’s all the way to this year and there is still more to go. This sport was involved with rugby at first then they came up with their own rules this sport is one of America’s favorite sports . And everyone's most favorite team is the new York giants as national treasure with four super bowls they may not have won the most super bowls but they were one of America’s treasures before. Some people believe football is a good contact sport it's a way to burn off anger with a good contact sport it can help someone cool off. It is also good because it can help you burn energy by all the running nonstop.

Volume 2 Issue 4 Football is about two teams with eleven players on the field the point of the games is to run the ball from one side to the other in under four downs. The rule of the game is you can't kick the ball only if your on fourth down and you have to send it to the other team or a field goal. There is also offsides which means when the quarterback says the word hike the ball is live but if you go out before the word is said it counts as offside. Another rule is no horse collar or grabbing by the helmet because it's for safety precautions. Last but not least is if you score it's 7 points if you do the field goal it's 1 point if you try to pull off the 2 point conversion and you don't make it you only get the touchdown. Those are the basic rules for football. Last, I believe football could be good if we could get more people to like it worldwide it could be a bigger sport for people. Another is how to get more people to like I think people should try to push people to try it .If more people like it in America maybe it could be the biggest sport in the country. Maybe if there wasn't so much contact there would be more players. That’s why football should try to get more players.

Favorite winter activities BY:Stephanie Haluza.

My favorite winter activities are making snowmen, snowball fights, making igloos, sledding and ice skating. You can go ice skating anywhere like the conagra ice rink in Omaha and the ice rink also sells hot chocolate. You can only make snowman outside bigger or smaller than you. You can go sledding from the tallest hill in town and I hope I get to this year. You can make igloos but they are pretty tricky to make though I remember me Kristen, Jacob beck, and Jim beck we made an igloo and it took a long time. Snowball fights are super fun but not when you get a frostbite.

Volume 2 Issue 4 Snowboarding Movements By Ryan Bangart

What I will Miss About Summer! By: Ally Wright

Modern snowboarding that is pretty simple, was invented by Sherman Poppen. He was an engineer in Muskegon, Michigan. The reason why he invented it was for daughters by tying two skis together with a rope and sliding down a hill. He called this a ‘snurfer’. Shortly afterwards, he pitched an idea to a manufacturer called the Brunswick Corporation. The company sold over 1 million snurfers. Since then, snowboarding, where the name has originated since 1970s, has become one of the greatest winter sports in the world. The sport and concept has even ending up in the World Olympic Sport is 1998. Ross Rebagliati (Canadian) won the first gold medal for Snowboarding in WOS in 1998. In the prior, X Games , a program on ESPN launched Winter X Games. Snowboarding also entered into the media through newspapers, magazines, video games and TV shows. Since then, Snowboarding has been recognized around the world.

When Winter comes, will you miss anything about summer? I know I will. There is so many things that I do in the summer. When it’s over there will be many things I will miss. I don’t know about you but I went swimming all the time. I got a pass and everything. I went almost every weekday. I will definitely miss being about to sleep in. Most teenagers like to sleep in. Unless they are an early bird. Most teenagers aren’t but some are. What about going outside? Some teenagers are on their phone 24/7 but in the summer there is so much to do outside. I know I will miss being able to go outside and just hang out. In the summer I always skateboard and ride my bike. Most of the time I would just ride around the block. Some of the time I

Volume 2 Issue 4 would ride around the neighborhood. Yes, I did get tired but, it’s fun. Especially if you are going with a friend. The thing I will miss the most is the skateboard. I’m still not very good at it but trying to pick up where I left off may be hard. There is so much you can do outside in the summer. Whether it’s skateboard, riding your bike, sitting outside enjoying the sun or swimming. The pool. You can make some pretty good friendships by going to the pool. When you live walking distance you can go all the time. At most pools there are slides, a diving board and a wading area. Sometimes they also have a little kid area. I would always sit in the kid area just enjoying my surroundings. The pool ended up being like my second home. When at the pool, if you were like me then you would go enough to have the lifeguards recognize you. It’s pretty awesome. The summers are always fun for me. I always have the best memories, but all amazing things must come to an end. The only way I get through winter is knowing that the summer will be back next year. Oh and hot chocolate. You can’t forget the hot chocolate.

My favorite food in the winter is chilli. One reason is because it’s spicy the way my mom makes it. Another reason is when it is cold outside it warms me up. My last reason is When my mom makes chill it tastes really good. I am going to tell you one way to make chilli.First you Brown the meat you are putting in your chilli.Next you Cook your vegtibals like pepers and onions and add seasonings. After that you add the broth let it sit for a little bit. Then you add the tomatoes and beans to the chilli. Finally you serve it to everyone. I eat my chili bye putting a burrito shell on a plate. The I put my chili on the shell, then I put Fritos and cheese on the chili and burrito. My dad makes his different. He putts his chili in a bowl. Then puts cheese and sour cream on it. After that he puts crackers on it and that is how he makes his chilli. That is chili in my family.

My favorite food in winter is chili cheese dip. Chili cheese dip is normally a football food, and is commonly served with tortilla chips. Chili cheese dip is extremely easy to make, since it is just cheese and chili heated up and mixed together. Chili cheese dip is warm and perfect for a cold winter day spent inside. The recipe for chili cheese dip is quite simple:  One large brick Velveeta cheese  Two pounds of browned hamburger  Two cans of no bean Hormel chili  One teaspoon mustard

My favorite food in a cold day is tamales most Hispanics for the winter like to eat tamales and like to drink hot chocolate reason 1 because it is a good match 2

WINTER Winter By: Ke'shawn Mayfield

WINTER, ugg this season again! You ever had to sit outside for a long time in your underwear and no way back into the house. winter is a sore because I’ve spent the last year in Vegas escaping the cold now I have to come back. as well as I can remember it winter is 90 days of snow ice and freezing temperatures. I also have a lot of older brothers so be prepared to be thrown in the snow in underwear or even naked trust me I know. The winter also means ice and missing some school. Me personally like school because it gives me time from my momma. the winter has is a sore subject with me because I’m always the one who has to take the dog out in the snow. Winter is also my moms least favorite season because someone always crashes into her car in the winter . The winter is my brother's least favorite season because he hates the cold. The only reasons I like the winter is because I cans throw my brothers in the snow like they did me. I like grabbing a handful of snow and throwing it in bed with my brothers. my dad likes the snow because he likes his room cold. my brother likes the snow because he can torture me. my sister likes the snow because she can build snowmen.

3 of Some of the coldest places on The Planet By Allison Schubert

The coldest place in the U.S.:Barrow AK. Dawson Hernandez Arguably the coldest town in the U.S. is Barrow, Alaska the northernmost settlement in the country and is well above the arctic circle(320 miles away). With a population of 4,212 as of 2010 this freezing town is remarkably normal as a town with forty degree temps in July with several schools a bank a town hall and a police station. The average climate in winter is the low being -19.5 and the winter high being 7.4.The average climate in summer is a high of 46.9 and an average low of 34.8. All in all the coldest place in the United States is really like any other town except with snow year round and barely above freezing temps in the summer.

One of the coldest parts on Earth is Oymyakon, Russia . Oymyakon as well as the whole Yakutia is located at northern latitude. It is relatively far from oceans or bodies of water. Mountains surround the Oymyakon Village so tightly, trapping the air around the village. The air is literally trapped and not allowed to go up and dispersed. The air continues being “refrigerated”. This gives it a inability to be warmed up in the course of the short daytime. Another place that is very cold on the planet is Vostok Station, Antarctica. It currently holds the record low air temperature of minus 125.8 degrees Fahrenheit. Which was recorded in 1983. Antarctica contains 90 percent of all ice on Earth in an area just under one and half times the size of the united states. Antarctica is the fifth largest continent. It’s size varies through the seasons, as expanding sea ice along the coast nearly doubles in size in the winter. Glaciers inch across the continent, cracking and breaking the ice.

Volume 2 Issue 4 A third place that is extremely cold on the planet is International Falls, Minnesota. International Falls, Minnesota is located just below the united states border, with Canada. International Falls is a city in Koochiching county, Minnesota. International falls is nicknamed “Ice box of the nation”. With 109.4 days per year with the high temperature below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. The International falls is a well known area to explorers missionaries and voyages as early as the 17th century. Has long bitterly cold winters and humid warm summers. Snow cover is thick and long lasting. Precipitation averages about 24.1 inches per year. The average time it is cold here is September through may. The highest it gets here is 103 degrees and the lowest is -55 degrees Fahrenheit. Winter Hunting By. Gabe Wilcoxen

ORANGE! Look where you are going to shoot before you shoot. Don’t ever point the muzzle of the gun at anything other than the target. Also always keep your finger off the trigger at all times until you are ready to fire the weapon. Always plan for the weather ahead. So make sure to wear layers to keep warm. Pay special attention to your fingers, neck, toes and feet. Make sure to keep the most warm. You do not want to get frostbite when you are out there because there will not always be someone with you. You do not want to be losing hand and feet. When hunting always be sure to have someone with because if an accident happens then there is someone there to help you. If there is no one with you the make sure you have a map that has where you will be. Call someone every hour to two hours to let them know that you are okay. Also if you are injured it is good to have a phone to call someone to help you. If you are going hunting have fun and be safe.

Canadian Geese: Migration, Reproduction, Survival. By Jill “Normally loves birds but deathly fears Canadian Geese” Wilson

When hunting in the winter. You should treat every weapon as if it is loaded. Always wear BRIGHT

Canadian Geese are known for their seasonal migrations. They’re also known for the hissing thing they do when you’re walking your dog and you accidentally step toward them because you can’t see them viciously stalking you from the shadows like the demons they are. They’re freaking terrifying.

Volume 2 Issue 4 Most geese have resting areas, for grouping together in preparation for the migration. They begin to migrate around early September, and by late November, they’re either completely gone, or they’re dead. Earlier migrators have a tendency to spend less time resting, and more time on the metaphorical road. Later migrators tend to spend more time slacking off. Get your heads in the game, you feathery maracas. Much like sea turtles, some geese return to where they were hatched to lay their own clutch of eggs with their mate, though this isn’t exactly common. During the first year of the goose’ adult life, it sets out to find a mate. Most couples stay together for the rest of their lives, although if one of the pair dies, the remaining goose will likely find a new mate. The female lays a clutch of between two to nine eggs, and both parents work to protect them while they incubate, and even a while after in most cases. Goslings are cute. I’ll probably paste a picture of them in when I’m done with this horrible jumble of words and sarcasm. As soon as the adorable goose babies hatch, they are immediately able to walk, and by the time they shed their down and grow in their adult feathers, they already look like they feast on souls of the damned, just like their parents. Like father, like son. Most geese that survive to adulthood live for ten to twenty-four years, and anywhere in between. Oh no. Believe it or not, these geese have loads of predators, although most prefer eggs or goslings rather than adult birds. These

predators include but are not limited to: coyotes, red foxes, northern raccoons, crows, ravens, large gulls, golden and bald eagles, snowy owls, and both brown and American black bears. Avian predators are more known to go for anything; eggs, goslings, young and even adult geese. Lord help them.

Here’s the picture I promised. Cute, huh.

Why I hate/love winter By: William Calabretto

I love winter because it gives us 1 day or more of no school and a lot of us is happy we don’t have school because some of us don’t like school. I like it because of Christmas and I like snow I don’t know why but I do. I could finally

Volume 2 Issue 4 sleep in or play video games all day. I would never leave the house lol. Sleep is probably what I like about the winter. I don’t like winter because it’s snowy and cold. I would always have chores to do around the house and it sucks. I wouldn’t go outside because it’s too cold. I would half to wear coats and stuff, I just mostly think it’s uncomfortable. I really hate getting colds especially when I don’t have school or its the summer. It really sucks that winter is coming pretty fast. I love and hate winter but all of us have our reasons why we love winter or we hate winter. I like winter because we get no school but there's always a bad thing to it because if we miss a day of school like of bad rain or hail storm or winter then we half to make it up at the end of the year so we half to add more days at the end. I think it sucks that we half to do that at the end of the year. Most people get really excited that there is no school (probably cuz everybody doesn’t like school).

Favorite Things To Do In Winter By: Juan Moreno

Winter is here! One truth about winter you may have noticed is that there’s snowy day lovers and snowy day haters. I count myself firmly in the first category and also hold the opinion that some people who don’t like snowy days just may need to explore the opportunities they bring more and learn how have some winter fun! Here’s my humble shot at ideas to brighten a winter day. All from personal experience. Hope you enjoy! I like jumping into snow with only my shorts on. It’s fun I do it with my friends most every year since we were in 6th grade.Go ice skating. What’s winter without ice skating? Not as much fun that’s what. If you’re blessed enough to be close to a place to ice skate take advantage of it fully. Go sledding. Sledding has winter fun wrote all over it. Take your sled to a hill and knock yourself out. Not literally, so don’t hit any trees in the process. Catch up on reading. Is there a better time to hit that book you’ve been dyeing to read for so long than a snowy day? I can’t think of any. Pull up a chair, your book and get nice and cozy and read away. The snowy day may be over before you know it. Go to a afternoon movie. Why does it seem like I’ve seen the best movies when it’s been snowing outside? Not sure if it’s coincidence but it sure does seem true. Besides many movie theaters offer a reduced day price so take advantage of it on a snowy day. See a great movie, eat some popcorn and stay warm. Deep clean the house. Vacuum, dust, etc. You get the idea. Organize the garage or your basement.

Volume 2 Issue 4 Yes, you now finally have a good day to tackle that task, don’t you? Think about how much easier a organized garage or basement will make your next big project. Now I certainly hope you enjoy your snowy days this winter. I sure love snow that’s why I like jumping in it with friends. Be sure to hang around friends and family during the winter holidays.

Things to do on a snow day By: Adrian Hernandez the best things to do on a snow day is Make a snowman. Or a snow castle or monster even! Go ice skating. There are a lot of places around town to be able to go ice skating. You can Drink hot coco after doing all this fun stuff.

inter can be the funnest time of the year for young kids and sometimes adults. first thing is the most obvious reason, snowboarding and sledding. snowboarding is a really fun snow game that is hard but extremely fun. sledding is more of a kid’s way of fun in the snow.

You can hang out with your family. Some people go out and shop, some people stay home and sleep. Others do chores outside and pick up snow.

Winter comes to us for a good chunk of time in the year. it is the one time of the year that you can do a bunch of fun stuff. it is also a time of the year that it will get really cold and that you will really not want to get out of bed.

cons for winter} winter is obviously the coldest time of the year and that gets to people. if it's cold it's harder to do basic outdoor activities. you also get to do the worst thing about snow, you get to shovel it and try to get rid of the ice . there is a danger about snow that can affect cars. a little thing called black ice

Hi my name is Jordan and today I am going to be talking to you about ice fishing. ok so when you go ice fishing you need to have some gear like a tent, hot coco, fishing pole, and a chair and food. then you drill you a hole and you put your pole in. and wait for a fish to come and take the bait you real your pole in and voila you have a fish. oh and I forgot you need to have a heater just in case you get cold. So after that when you catch a lot of fish you clean them and freeze the fish. then when you get the time you can cook them and eat them. and then you can go next winter and you can catch more fish and eat it. then you can finally get to rest and do whatever you want. then you will eat and got to bed.

Winter ain’t my favorite season but I’m not gonna hate it. I’ll give you a few reasons why I like it. Even though summer's better! One reason I like it is it’s hunting season. I’m able to go out to my uncle's house in Mo Valley. And I love going out there. Once thing that is always disgusting but I still help with it anyways is skinning the animals after they're dead & taking their meat out so you can freak it then cook it. Since it’s the countryside, the snow & all the trees & the mountain animals are all so beautiful. I really enjoy going out with my uncle, step dad, sister & me because it’s just a blast. But sometimes I forget how powerful the guns are when you pull the trigger, I sometimes end up hitting myself with the gun. Another reason is, there are always perfect nights to have fires & hot chocolate. And friends & I can go ice skating even though it’s hard & I can only roller skate but I still try. I don’t care. Things you can do in the winter is, build a snowman, catch snowflakes on your tongue, have a snowball fight, bake

Volume 2 Issue 4 cookies for fun, & bubble baths. Also, don’t forget Thanksgiving & Christmas are in the winter!!! Another thing that is really fun to do, drive around town when it starts to get dark out & look at all the pretty Christmas lights in everyone's yard. One house by me has lights everywhere and he has a sign that has the Christmas station on & the lights flash to the beat of the music & it’s pretty cool to watch. Now I’m gonna talk about Christmas. I absolutely love Christmas because I get to open parents & be surprised. Unless I go with my mom to pick it out cause she don’t ever know what I want anymore. Once thanksgiving here, it’s like Christmas is here the next day. Also you get to make cookies for Santa Claus & setting out milk. But for some reason I like to help put up the tree because its so beautiful seeing it when it’s all done, with all the lights on it. I mean I love decorating our whole house with Christmas stuff cause our house just lights up in the winter! Mostly inside though.

Winter can be a very good thing, but also a terrible thing. Winter has pros and cons. A pro of winter is having snow days, and getting out of school, a con of winter is that if you do miss a day because of school, you have to make it up and you get a shorter summer. Winter can make you happy and on the other side want summer right back. Another pro of winter is hot chocolate, I mean if your drinking hot chocolate in summer people will think you're weird but... in winter it’s perfect. A con of winter is dealing with shoveling walk, but a pro of shoveling is getting money if you go around and shovel the walks. Winter can sometimes just having you stay inside all day. A pro of winter is looking at the beautiful snow. Winter is not as nice as it seems, if you want to be able to go outside for a nice walk, you have to wear layers of clothes, to keep warm. In conclusion I believe there is many pros and cons of winter. Best place to vacation in winter. By Amanda Failla

Volume 2 Issue 4 I think Texas is the most beautiful and best vacation spot in the winter. Because It is really cool and warm there. I would want to go there. The temperature in winter time is 57.5 averagely every year. The snowfall in Texas the average is 1 inch. There are also many things to do in Texas. You can go to the Jacobs well. Also in san Antonio you can go to sea world and on a river walk. Also zero gravity amusement park. And the Dallas zoo. The minute maid park. Some foods there are .Blueberry cobbler.Brisket.And fajitas. Also chimichangas , chili con carne.

Things I Love/Dislike About Winter: By:Rachel Ward

snow we get at times. One big thing is ice. I personally hate when there’s ice because that’s a risk of me falling. And that would not be pretty. Although if one of my friends were to slip on ice my immediate reaction would to be to laugh. Icy roads are a very tough thing to tackle. You have to be careful not to step on the break too much and to drive carefully. Even though Winter can be bad sometimes,it also can be beautiful. At night or early in the morning you can see the fresh snow glistening in the light. I also love when the snow catches on trees. It can be such a sight to see. One thing that’s fun to do in Winter is ice skating. I always go ice skating when it’s my best friend's birthday. I also like to go sledding. Sure it gets cold but it’s fun. It’s also cool to build snowmen. Sure Winter is bad and cold. But just remember Winter can be good too. So when Winter is here(which is soon),prepare for the cold and beauty.

Winter can and cannot be a good thing. I like it sometimes because of the scenery. Or because of how the snow will glisten in the night sometimes. But then again it can suck. Here’s just some of the reasons why Winter is a great and terrible season. When you think of Winter you probably instantly think of the cold. Or maybe the horrible snow. Possibly Ice and blizzards. I think of these things when someone says ‘Winter’. Here in Iowa we can have some pretty bad Winter’s. This would be dealing with the cold and the

We all know when the schools call a snow day we usually want to go

Volume 2 Issue 4 inside and play on our phones or game systems. Sometimes there is other things to do then to go inside. Outside there is a lot of things to do in snow like throw snowballs at people. You can run on the ice outside and slide. One thing you can do outside that you would not think about in winter time is riding bikes. Riding a bike in the winter is fun when but you might want to get out a brothers bike that has back brakes. You start going a fast as possible then slam on the brakes and turn. When doing this watch out for cars on the side of the road. When going on the ice with the bike make sure that you don't spin to fast that you lose control. After you get done riding your bike you can just go inside. Play video games and whatever there is inside to do. Watching movies is another thing to do during winter. Drinking hot cocoa is good after coming in from the cold. Stay Warm during the winter. ++ The History of the Elf by: Harly Larsen

Elves are those little guys who run around Santa's workshop and have a lot of big parts in Christmas. The elves are one of the biggest part of Christmas because they build all the toys and

prepare the reindeers. They help around Santa’s workshop and some stories say that they help deliver the presents. There are many different roles elves have in different kinds of literature and TV. There's stories that have elves deliver the presents and there's one where kid can own elves called elf on the shelf and there's one where they do all the deliver called prep and landing and the old night before Christmas Santa was described as a elf himself Elves, everybody knows Santa’s little helpers but how did they start and what are they. They first came into the picture with Santa when Louisa May Alcott wrote a book called Christmas elves but the book was never published. Then a book called Godey's Lady's Book that featured Santa running a workshop that had elves doing all the work. That is how almost everybody sees them today. After that story almost every movie that had elves had them working the workshop and making the toys except for a few that they had different roles. Like rise of the guardians yetis made the toys and the elves were just Santa’s helpers and were not the most intelligent. Elves have different roles in other countries though. In Iceland they are called Yule Lads who between December 12 and 24 a different Yule lad leaves a present everyday and play tricks on the children. In a couple of countries they are called Black Peters or Zwarte Piets. In Nordic countries instead of wearing Christmas colors like most elves they wear only red. In some countries there's an elf that comes every winter and gets there lists of what they want for

One of the most coldest place in America is Syracuse New York. In February 2015, snow raised up to the height of 60 inches. Syracuse has a record of 19 straight days of two feet of snow. Throughout mid-march, Syracuse was only slightly above the seasonal average snowfall to date of over 9 feet. Another place in America that has the worst temperature is Nashville. In a 12 hour span, emergency crews responded to 182 non-injury crashes and 23 injury crashes. Nashville had 7 different snow and ice events from early January through early March. The coldest date in Nashville is 1978. Nashville went 75 days with temperatures below freezing. The worst winter place in America is Boston. The record of the highest snowfall measured up to be 108.6 inches. The snowiest month got up to be 64.8 inches. Boston’s Logan airport caught up to 43.5 inches of snow in just six weeks.

Because of the snow day so we don’t half to go to school another one is we can have hot cocoa, hot cider, because they make me feel warm inside. Get to eat S’mores which have graham crackers marshmallow and chocolate, gingerbread houses. I like Ice skating and have some laughs. and I also like CHRISTMAS!!!! to be with family and get presents, traveling to go spend time with family, visiting friends/family since it’s winter, snow angels when outside and to get cold. in the winter you are making phone calls you should’ve made a long time ago since you are stuck inside when blizzards are outside. THERE IS NO SCHOOL NO BED TIME’S GET TO SLEEP IN.

Volume 2 Issue 4 Why I Hate And Love Winter By: Jacob Hughes

There are many reasons why I like winter. One is it gives me an excuse to stay inside and do nothing. Another is just to go sledding because it’s fun and my dog goes with sometimes, she just chases you and tackles you off the sled. It also gives me a lot of free time to work on my bike or to do homework. My family does not favor the winter though. I also have reasons why I hate winter, for one I don’t like the cold. I like the cool, that’s why I like the spring and fall because it is usually cooler in those seasons. Plus I can do things with my friends during those seasons because there isn’t snow blocking my way. I can also go running when there isn’t any snow. I also can play with my dog outside but she gets cold in the snow so we can’t be outside long with her in the winter. I do like all the holidays in the winter that’s the biggest reason why I like the winter because of Christmas. But in the fall there is fall and thanksgiving so it’s kind of a debate between the two. The big thing that makes me hate the winter is the snow I could live with the cold weather but the

snow is what I don’t like because it stops me from being active and everything. Me and my family usually just lay around during the winter doing nothing or I’m riding my four wheeler around. It’s either that or I’m in my room sleeping talking to friends or just playing video games. And maybe from time to time you find me reading it just kind of depends on my mind. Other than that I go to Mount Crescent to ski and have fun on my birthday with friends and family Things I hate about Winter By: Jacob Meggers

Some reasons why I hate Winter are that stuff that I could do in the Summer, stuff like Football, Baseball, Soccer, etc. I also hate Winter because it’s always cold out and you have a lot of snow, and you can barely ever go outside and have fun. Winter also sucks because me and all of my friends hibernate and don’t hangout and talk as much. Also I can’t watch the sports that amuse me anymore, I can only watch Basketball. I also hate it because I have to shovel the snow all the time and every time it snows, it takes a long time to do because I have to do the porch, the sidewalk, and most of my driveway. I also have to help out

Volume 2 Issue 4 neighbors too with snow and I don’t get paid much at all, I get paid at tops $5.00 every time. My whole family doesn’t like Winter besides my Brother he likes Winter I guess, I think it’s because he is tired of Summer. I want Summer to stay though because heat I think is way better than cold, I also am way better in heat and I always have been. Looks like I can’t walk around as much anymore because that’s one of my biggest hobbies is walking I enjoy it and it keeps me fit. I also hate it because it’s harder to get around walking running, biking, cars because it get’s so slick and icy and wet outside that people don’t even want to leave home. The only thing about Winter I like is Christmas, to spend quality time with family, presents, being together as a family. Some more things I hate is that you always have to have doubled layer clothes on, and boots, gloves, scarves, etc. And also you have to always be smothered in heat and have the heater on which get’s really hot when it’s on 24/7, because it’s suppose to be colder. One other good quality is that I can have an excuse to stay inside some and play video games, even know that I like being outdoors more than indoors. I also don’t like the Blizzards and snowstorms that happen, but one good thing about that is you could miss school and have a snow day, but you have to serve it at the end of the year.

Snowflakes by~Ashlie knecht

Have you ever wondered if snowflakes are the same? Well there are some ways they are. In every crystal (snowflake), Molecules are lined up in a special way so that their atoms can create their own special pattern. In an ice crystal water molecules line up and form six-sided figures, or hexagons. That explains why all snowflakes have a sixpointed structure. Now almost everyone knows that no two snowflakes are the same. But why?. This is because each ice crystal forms differently as it falls through layers of air. Each layer has a different temperature, It also has more or less water available for adding to the crystal structure. Which makes the snowflake its own special form. Here are some fun facts. Snow is a form of precipitation like rain or sleet. Another fun fact is that it has to be below 32 degrees to snow. Also each snowflake is made up of 200 ice crystals. Did you know that snow is not actually white but clear. Snow looks white because of the way the light reflects off of the ice crystals. Close to 80% of the

I miss soccer By: Emily Eikenberry

Winter Activities By: Dylan Smith

When I think of an activity that I miss after summer would be soccer. I miss soccer because I have to wait six months until I can play that sport again. But during the off season I train to get better. The things I train in the off season is goalie because I want to be the next goalie for the USA. Also forward because that’s a spot I need to work on so I can play every spot on the field. Waiting six months for the new soccer season is boring but and can have its fun. You get to train or you can go get fit for the spring season. Getting fit for the next season is fun because you build your body up so you can get stronger in your leg muscles. Also you can build up your running ability to run faster and perform better to get the high school coaches to think that you are right to be on the varsity team freshman year. Also during the off season I remember how I played and see what I did wrong and I work on the all off season so in the next season I can be known has a good soccer player. Also be

My favorite winter topic is building a snowman. Because it brings back my childhood memories. And it also gets the season into me. What I mean is that I love to decorate the house with Christmas decorations. Plus my favorite thing about the winter is when it snows. The part that I hate about winter is when I have to go outside and scoop the walk. And when it also melts because everything is wet most of the time. Plus I also have to take down all of the Christmas decorations, and wait until it Christmas comes around again. My least favorite is when my dad and I get stuck in the snow. The most thing I love about winter is that you get to spend time with our families. And sing carols. Plus everything else it is really amazing for winter. When I look at snow it looks like glitter all around the block. And when you touch it turns into water. The Final thing I want say is, have a nice winter.

My Favorite Things To Do On A Snow Day By: Jared Thompson

Snow days are really fun for me, my family and many others. Who doesn't like a day off because of snow? Lots of people that hate winter actually love snow days. One main reason people like snow days is because they don't have to go out in the snow. People

Volume 2 Issue 4 in America really like to have snow days. One of my favorite things to do on a snow day is to sleep in really late. After that I usually take my brother outside and play. We shovel all the snow and make giant forts and have snowball fights. My family really likes to make big snowmen all around the yard, we like to dress them in goofy clothes. That is some of my favorite things to do on a typical snow day. Many people across America love to skip a long day of work and have a snow day. Many people usually like to sleep in and drink hot cocoa. Another thing people like to do is go sledding or snowboarding. Another popular thing to do on a snow day is to go ice skating with your friends. That is the many things that I, and many others like to do on a cold snow day. Elf by LaShae Larson

Christmas movie I would recommend this movie to everyone who loves to laugh so know I’m going to tell you about this Christmas movie. Buddy was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood among Santa's elves. Unable to shake the feeling that he doesn't fit in, the adult Buddy travels to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father. As it happens, this is Walter Hobbs a businessman. After a DNA test proves this, Walter reluctantly attempts to start a relationship with the childlike Buddy with increasingly chaotic results. A part that I like is that in the beginning it is funny how he is so tall then the others are so small. I also like when he sleeps and when he wakes up his feet hangs over because he’s so tall. It was also funny when he sleeps in the mall and decorated the whole part of the mall, and when he saw the fake Santa and yelled at him saying he was a phony and a fake. The best part is when the girl is singing in the shower and he starts to sing with her.

In the movie elf the main character is Will Ferrell the movie came out on November 7, 2003. This movie would have to be in my top 10 favorite

Things I Love About Winter! By: Izzy Tamayo

This Why I Love and Hate Winter By: Jose E. Salinas

CRASH! The sounds make when you run into a big mountain of snow! Just picture it! It’s cold outside! Snow all over your face! Wearing a big winter coat! With some gloves and boots! All ready to stay warm then you go! outside! Man! That’s a good thing about winter! There’s snow! Many people might not like the snow or like the fact it’s cold, but you can turn all that bad stuff into a beautiful thing! See let’s put it this way, think about how it rains! Yeah people hate rain because it’s water and gets them wet but look when it rains yeah it might be ugly but at the end it turns into a beautiful thing! A rainbow! See my point is snow is easy to make it fun! SNOWBALL FIGHT!!! Kids yelling and throwing snowballs at each other! Kids building snow forts! VOOM! All u hear when a kid on a sled goes by u from the top of the big steep hill! Kids making snow angles! Everywhere u go in town Christmas lights! up front of most houses are snowmen or snowwomen! That’s just some things

When winter comes I love it and hate at the same time. The snow affects the way I go to school and back home. It also affects what is available to do outside which sometimes it a good or bad thing. The times when I actually like the snow is when I have snow ball fights with my sisters. When my mom has a day off work sometimes she would take my sisters and I to Omaha to go sledding. Sometimes when I get bored I get my sister Briana to go outside and I would make a huge ball of loosely packed snow then I put it in her hoodie and I quickly pull the hoodie over her head and push it down over her head then snow would get all over her head a few times it would get in her neck and a bit down her back. Now about the times I really hate the snow. One of times I really dislike the snow is when I have to walk home

Volume 2 Issue 4 and winter always bring deep snow have to walk in the freezing snow all the way home. The next reason I hate winter is I get home I’m freezing from walking in snow I usually have to take a steaming hot shower when I get home because it takes about 40 minutes to get home usually I would get home in about 28 minutes but in the snow it takes longer. My third and final reason is the reason I mainly don't like snow, one time when I was younger I went sledding with my cousins, aunts, and uncles when it was my turn to sled (which was my first time I ever went sledding) I had hit a bump hard and flew off the sled and landed face first in the snow, It didn’t hurt that much since my face was numb and the next day on the left side of my cheek and a bit above it looked red like if I was in the snow which lasted for about a week. Winter Fashion by: Hope Garcia Put away your flip flops, shorts, and tank tops. It’s getting cold so you know to bring out the big sweaters, boots, and leggings/jeans. My favorite outfit in the Winter is to wear a thick base color knitted sweaters. Also with some warm black thick leggings. For my shoes I would wear UGG boots or combat boots with thick long socks. I would get my knitted base color sweaters at Forever 21 or I would get them from VS/Pink. My base color for my sweaters are either a maroon with white strips on the sleeves or a big olive green over sized sweater.

The maroon sweater I would wear that with dark wash jeans with brown combat boots. With the olive green over sized sweater I would wear thick black leggings with plain brown UGG boots with a button. You shouldn’t

Volume 2 Issue 4 wear shorts and a big winter jacket and boots in the winter. You can’t go in the snow with UGG boots on because the snow will ruin the fuzz inside the shoes that keeps your feet warm. You shouldn’t wear more than 1 jacket under your snow coat. So when

The Great Blizzard of 1888 By: Kaylee Rothmeyer

Have you ever experienced a blizzard? Even if you have, I bet it was nothing compared to the Great Blizzard of 1888. In the history of the United States of America, it is said to be one of the most severe recorded blizzards. On March 10, the temperatures in the Northeast began to drop. But, the storm started on March 11. Rain was turned into snow and the wind levels were reaching the strength of a hurricane! By March 12, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey had all received about 50 inches of snow. That is just over 4 feet of snow. This storm had a big effect on everyone. It was several weeks before all of the snow drifts had completely disappeared. Every way of transportation was nearly impossible. To go on horse, would be too hard due to the amount of snow. To go on train also would be

My favorite snow activity is having snowball fights with my friends and I like to get my snow gun and I like making snow forts and igloos. I like to hide in the snow so I can scare my friends. More likely I bury myself in the snow. I like to play with my dogs in the snow. I like to watch my schnauzer try to go through the snow. I also like to go to my grandpa’s house to sled. I like to go in the woods and have snow ball fights there too. I also like having hot chocolate and I like to go to the country and visit my cousins. We would ride horses and have snowball fights. We would have these fights on the horses which is not very safe. Winter is my favorite season we can do a lot of things in winter that is why it is my favorite season

There are many cold places in the winter time. Some are colder than others. People in Council bluffs think it is really cold. Here are the top 3 places in the world that are the coldest. The 1st coldest place in the world is , Rogers Pass, Montana U.S.A. The reason why it is one of the coldest place is because it was recorded to be the coldest place in the United States. The temperature is -70 degrees in January 20th 1954. To keep the road open during the winter they have to use a machine gun to blow away the snow. The 2nd coldest place on earth is Yukon , Canada. In 1950 this place had no people in it because how cold it is. There is no road access, The way to get there is by a plane or boat. The lowest temperature was -74o F . In January it is the coldest. The 3rd coldest place is Eismitte, Greenland. The name Eismitte means Ice Center in German. This place is located on the arctic side of Greenland. The place is covered in ice and snow. It is just like the mountains but flat land. The coldest it has been was -85o F . The warmest has been 27oF. There are many cold places. But those were just some of the coldest. Imagine

Things I do on a snow day and why I hate winter By Lily Hernandez

I hate winter. Why well I am always sick and feel like garbage, and I’m always cold and can’t get warm. Then I get stuck taking three or four different meds to get it to go away. Another thing is I get fevers a lot in the winter time. Also you have to go to bed at the same time every night if there is a snow day and you don’t find out till morning then you can’t fall back asleep.

. Like my little brother Boston he loves making snowmen it is fun to him

In the morning when I look out the window I know I won't be going outside unless I have to because I can see the snow.. But then I realize that winter is coming. That means no more swimming no more climbing trees nothing! Also you can’t go anywhere unless you bundle up to keep warm. The thing I miss the most about not having snow is playing outside with my dogs. I do love snow days though. I love the when a snow day comes then there no school. Than when I find out that there is no school it is pj day. The first thing I do is sleep in until 10:30 then I get up and make breakfast. After that I go feed the dogs and watch TV. At 11:00 I play videogames for hours. Then after about 3 of 4 hours I go make hot cocoa and soup for lunch. With nothing else to do I read write or play with the dogs or getting myself in trouble. The last thing I do is watch movies until it is time to go to bed. That’s how my snow days go.

WINTER FUN TIME by Blake Bowen What is the best time of the year when it is winter you say well that is a good question. It is the WINTER FUN TIME. When you have nothing to do and it is snowing and you have shoveled the driveway and have nothing to do you can ask your parents to go outside and play with your brother or sister or anybody who wants to have fun. You can go to winter parties those are fun to go to. you can meet lots of friends that you have never met. There is also bobsledding and regular sledding they are the best because you can do it with friends and family.

Volume 2 Issue 4 There is also ice skating and ice hockey . The ice skating is fun because some of my friends go ice skating. Now the ice hockey is the best because I have played ice hockey with my brothers and it is sometimes hard to play

the snowmobile up. The engine roared! I hopped on the back & my uncle took off and I fell right off. He forgot to tell me to hold on. So he came back around to pick me up and make sure I was ok. Then we tried again, this time I held on and he let me ride in front. We rode through the snowy country hills for about 20mins. When we returned I couldn’t feel my bottom form all the vibrations of the motor while riding the snowmobile. I also couldn’t feel my face from the coldness. Then I went back to grandma’s to warm up with a nice warm cup of hot coco.

My feelings about winter By Jeffrey Brammer You can also build snowman and that is fun with little brothers.

In winter I like to ride my snowmobile out at my grandma’s house. It was snowy and it had already snowed a lot. It was a foot and a half deep and it was hard to walk through. I asked my uncle if he could teach me how to ride it. After I had went to get my winter clothes on. I walked out the door to about the middle of the driveway and fell flat on my face. My uncle laughed and told me to stand up and walk it off. So then we went to my grandpa’s garage. We started

I’m not much of a winter person but there is some stuff I like because when it's the winter it's cold I don't like cold I don't like the shovel it I don't like to play with it I want it to not be here I like it a little though I like some stuff about it and I’m a bit neutral about it. and he was eating snow off the ground. (btw, Quba is my Rottweiler) After the snowball fight I slept on the stairs, but couldn’t stop thinking about how fun this snowy day was. I finally fell fast asleep after a very busy day. Winter is coming Antarctica By Trevor Brayman

The Snowy Day By: Kaleb Ash

The time of winter when I was 10 I had a snowball fight with Alexis, Connor, Jaxson, and Cyrs. Cyrs threw the snowball at my face. Then Alexis threw a snowball at my back and Connor throw a snow at me, it hit me in the chest. After that I wiped the snow from my face and chest. 30mins later we ate pizza hut for supper. After supper we had another snowball fight. We threw snow and made snow forts before the next snowball fight. At night I was making snow angels and was eating snow catching it in my mouth. The snow was clean. I started throwing snowballs at Quba. He eats the snow balls

Antarctica is the southernmost continent and site of the South Pole is a virtually uninhabited. Most cruises to the continent visit the Antarctic Peninsula, which stretches toward South America. It’s known for the Lemaire Channel and Paradise Harbor striking, iceberg flanked passageways, and Port Lockroy a former British research station turned museum. With 14 million sq km.The coldest natural temperature ever recorded on Earth was −89.2 °C (−128.6 °F) at the Soviet. Large animals such as some cetaceans and birds make the round trip annually. There has been some concern over the potential adverse environmental effects caused by the visitors.

Snowflakes By: Devin Schorsch

Do you love snow I do I love snow a lot. Everyday when I go to sleep I wish it will snow. When it does snow I get on my big jacket and go outside. I build these blocks out of snow and then put them in the freezer about 14 at a time. then I take them out and they look really cool. (I have to bring them outside really fast or else they start to melt.) Then I take a stick and draw a BIG circle in the snow. take a shovel and clear what's inside the circle out. then put the blocks of ice around the circle. Keep stacking them and stacking them. I move a lot of fun stuff in my igloo once I’m done with it like my fold up chair and a TV. one time my brother built one and put A LOT of FIREWORKS exploded the whole thing. that blocked me in my igloo I stuffed my igloo with a lot of chips and candy. so I was ok in food one time I put a TV. in the igloo. my littlest brother chase I made him an igloo once before and he fell asleep in it spent the whole night out there.

Snowflakes are supposed to always have 6 sides and they look like the human fingerprint. Like fingerprints snowflakes are never the in size and the never look the same. Snowflakes can be categorized into six main types, plate (flat), column, stars, dendrite (lacy, needle, and capped column. The first type of snowflake is a plate like snowflake and is flat. the next type of snowflake is a column snowflake Snow can be further classified into six basic patterns called: Needles, columns, plates, columns capped with plates, dendrites, and stars. Each type is the result of different atmospheric and temperature conditions within the cloud. Needles are formed at the upper end of the temperature spectrum, usually when ground temperatures are at or near the freezing point. To grow, these crystals need an air temperature in the -5 to -10 degrees C range. Needles tend to produce a dense, stiff snowpack which can produce an avalanche under the right conditions. Plates are wanna-be stars that are essentially moisture starved. They form

coat and A long sleeve shirt, it’s really annoying. During the winter I can’t go play basketball or football with my friends because OF THE SNOW, and not to mention THE COLD WEATHER. These are all the reasons I hate winter. Now how do you feel about winter?

God I really hate winter. Everyday I go outside I wish I could move. I wish I lived in Florida where there it is never cold. I hate the cold, if you fall in the summer you scrape your hand wipe it off and get up. If you fall in the winter you can get frostbite and your whole body is freezing. Literally nothing good comes out of winter.

Pros and Cons of winter. By Kyrsten Easter

I never got why people like winter, I still don’t. some people like to make snow angels or snowman's, I tried making A snowman once and it was just freezing and I couldn’t make it. The one I hate the most is snowball fights. You're just picking up ice and throwing it at people, what's the fun in that? Some people like ice being thrown at them in below 0 weather but not me. Another thing I hate is the wind, it’s freezing and it like pierces through my clothes. My favorite season is spring because it’s not to hot and it’s not too cold. If I had to choose between cold and hot I would choose hot because I hate the cold a lot. The only thing I like about winter is when I’m sweating than I go outside and it cools me off. I like to wear t shirts and sometimes A light jacket. Not in the winter I have to wear huge

Winter is coming soon. There's lots of bad inputs to winter. Some bad stuff about winter is first of all it's really cold, and since it's cold you can get frostbit. Another bad thing is snow. When it snows it can cause a snow day so, students will lose learning time. Also the roads can get really slippery because of the ice. If the roads are slippery

Volume 2 Issue 4 people are more likely to get in a crash. So in other words winter is dangerous. Winter has lots of good inputs too. In the winter you can where the most comfy clothes. Like sweatpants, hoodies, beanie, and boots. Another good thing about winter is that the kids can go play in the snow. They can build snowmen, igloos, and snow angels. plus snow day might be bad but most kids like them because they get to stay home. In my opinion winter isn't that bad. I get to dress warm. Also I get to drink hot coco. One of the things I don't like about winter is that I always get sick. To be honest I like fall better than winter. The nightmare before Christmas By Samantha Vacanti

The movie was released on October 13th 1993. It is the same routine every year in Halloween Town, on Halloween the monsters come out and perform a real scare. This particular Halloween, the pumpkin king Jack Skellington, bored of the idea, wonders off into the woods with his dog Zero after Halloween night. Upon the break of dawn, he discovers a clearing of trees with different doors representing various

holidays. The Christmas Tree door attracts his attention and upon entrance into the world of Christmas, Jack is fascinated with this new idea of Christmas that he must absolutely share with the citizens of Halloweentown. He plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role. But Jack soon discovers even the plans of mice and skeleton men can go seriously wrong. Jack didn't meant to do any harm, but when Santa Claus ends up with the boogie man, and Jack gets shot down he realizes that this wasn't meant for him, and that's he’s the pumpkin king, meant for scaring, and so he goes back to Halloween town and gets back Santa, and returns him to Christmas town, so everyone in Christmas town got their presents and everybody in Halloween town got back to their usual routine. Winter Fashion by justice smith It’s almost time for winter it’s time to put the tank tops, shorts and flip flops away. It’s time to bring out the winter clothes. One of my outfits I wear in winter is a cute sweater and a cute scarf and leggings and ugg boots. Some of the time I wear sweatpants and a sweatshirt.

Volume 2 Issue 4 Reason’s I hate winter By: Jacob Fries

Winter is a time of joy for most people because of Christmas and other activities like skiing or snowboarding. You see others enjoy hot cocoa and marshmallows and days off school and of course thanksgiving but not me. If you’re like me then you hate winter it's awful you feel trapped in a room all day unless you can stand the cold for a long time. In the winter I can’t play basketball which is horrible I mean honestly it is the worst feeling because for me my house gets real boring real quick. Sure winter has its up and its downs but all of it is awful in my opinion. My hands freeze off in the winter and they hurt and camping sucks driving sucks walking sucks winter drains me of any type of energy I have. Have you ever just stood in the cold its like being smacked in the face by someone who had the AC on all day brrrr. If you're an adult you understand the pain of wiping off your window shields and waiting for your car to warm up most people's cars break down in super cold weather. Yeah weather is the worst part because I can’t do any cool sports that I like (<
weight which is the worst. That is why a whole lot of people hate winter is because they need the weather or else they break down who's with me when they say they like summer a whole lot more than winter. Traveling in the winter is slow and I have to wait for my mom to warm up the car I mean the process is as vigorous as trying to wake my brother up after work. Being in a room is intoxicating for me and a whole lot of people I mean it’s so boring last year I spent a whole day at the ymca just to burn off two days of being stuck inside. I won’t lie I'm very impatient and so are a whole lot of middle schoolers so staying inside and not going anywhere is super lame. Don’t get me wrong I’ve tried to like winter but it's like that one kid in the class who picks his nose and all you wanna do is run like Scooby and shaggy. If you like winter think about this, every single day sitting in a house on a couch or whatever you lose precious time that you can spend on taking adventures or doing what you love and for me winter slows me down. Favorite Things To Do On A Snow Day By: Gavin Smith I like to hibernate on a snow day. I like to build snowmen outside and sleigh ride down the hills it is so much fun. When I am done I drink hot chocolate! I also like to watch people get stuck in the snow with their cars.

Volume 2 Issue 4 hot sauce, 2 cups of oatmeal, 10 strips of bacon, 5 sausages, 3 bowls of cereal, 1 mango, and 1 protein shake. While I’m eating breakfast I have just started a movie or catching up on my TV shows. If I’m really behind then I’ll spend the whole day inside but sometimes when I’m bored I go out and play on a frozen pond behind my house. What I do is build like 5 snowman’s and me and my brother have a snowball fight with are neighbors, sometimes I play a little dirty by packing ice.

Winter Gilo by - Wimach

Now for why I hate the winter, if you didn't know I'm from California even though I’ve lived in Iowa for 8 years now and I’ve NEVER adapted to the winter. Here are all my thought ) It’s cold, My toes are always freezing—no matter how many pairs of socks I wear, Getting out of a cozy bed in the morning is absolute torture, I desperately miss the heat of the sun warming my skin.

Ah winter, or if you're like me ¨Sweatpants season¨. For my topic I chose to write about the reasons I hate winter/why I love winter, also things I do on a snow day. I think I’m not like other kids, I don't spend my days going sledding, making snow mans, sitting next to warm fires with my family drinking hot cocoa, That kind of boring stuff. On a typical snow day I sleep till about 11am, Once I wake up I spend about 20-30 minutes talking a hot shower then the day begins. I start basic by making 6 pancakes, 6 eggs with
