Law Enforcement Officers of every rank and file have chosen a profession that puts their life on the line every day for their communities. They’ve answered a call to public service that is demanding and often unappreciated. On National Law Enforcement Day, we have an opportunity to thank them for their service and offer a token of respect.

NO SCHOOL: No school on Monday, January 15th. Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January. It celebrates the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr, an influential American civil rights leader.

SNOW & COLD WEATHER: Students go out for recess every day. If the weather is very cold, recess time will be limited. Every child is encouraged to go out for a few minutes each recess for fresh air. Please make sure your child has proper clothing: boots, hat, mittens, coat, and snow pants and mark them with their name. Please make sure your child has shoes to wear during school hours. Safety codes do not allow IT’S COLD OUTSIDE: On cold winter days, your youngsters can still get the 60 minutes of recommended daily physical activity—while enjoying family time. Play “baseball” with paper snowballs, scoring one run for each ball you hit. Build an indoor or outdoor obstacle course. Or hold “yoga class or dance class” by following a video. SCHOOL DOORS OPEN: The school DOORS will not be unlocked until 7:30 am. Please do not drop your students off until doors are unlocked at this time. There is no supervision on the playground until 7:45. Please do not allow your students to be left outside until doors are unlocked or an adult is on the playground. SCHOOL SUPPLIES: With the year half over, it’s time to replenish school supplies. Please check with your child to see if they need new markers, glue, crayons, pencils, notebook paper, or Kleenex. KINDNESS: Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you. Princess Diana
