*Hymn of Praise Angels from the Realms of Glory UMH #220 Lighting of the Advent Candle Nathan and Spencer Schnoor Once again we light the candles of Hope, Peace, and Joy remembering they are God’s gift to us through Jesus Christ. Today we light the fourth candle of Advent, the Candle of Love. Jesus came to live among us so we could see what God’s love looks like. He said, “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you should also love one another.” Since God is love, let us be love also. Let us pray together: Gracious God, break into our world and our hearts again. Fill us with your love so that it overflows to all those you place in our paths. We give thanks for the precious gift of your Son, Jesus. Help us to love as he loved and to serve as he served. Amen. Passing of the Peace Time of Prayer - The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
*Affirmation of Faith (Apostles’ Creed)
UMH #881 I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead: he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
*Gloria Patri Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen. Prayer For Illumination God of Love, send your Spirit to this place to bless the reading of your word, that it may be a lamp to our feet and a light unto our path. Amen. Scripture
