City Offices Closed December 26, January 2 All City offices will be closed Monday, December 26 and Monday, January 2 for the holidays. City offices will be open regular hours from December 27 through December 30. No Weekly Update for Dec. 16 No weekly update was produced for the week of Dec. 16. This update will cover activity from the past two weeks. Ojai Youth Basketball The Ojai Youth Basketball League will begin on Saturday, January 7. Over the next two weeks, we will be holding a player draft, and forming teams. There will be approximately 275 participants in the program from kindergarten through eighth grade. Games will be held every Saturday in the John Martin Gym at Sarzotti Park and the Matilija Junior High School Gym. In January, game schedules and locations will be available on the Recreation Department website at ojairec.com. Public Works Update Bike Trail Slurry: Public Works crews “slurried” the bike trail section from Fox St to the east end by the Humane Society/Soule Golf Course. Plaza Storm Drain: The storm drain under the Plaza’s low point was filled with concrete slurry fill to eliminate ponding at sewer line crossing. Ventura Street Curb: A curb was installed on Ventura Street to divert stormwater from the Public Works yard. This will reduce stormwater pollution run-off issues in our required sampling program. Additionally, a infiltration/ siltation basin has been constructed at the outlet sampling point from the Public Works yard on Montgomery Street; this will also improve sampling results.
Ojai Ave Sidewalk Infill: The deteriorated asphalt sidewalk on Ojai Avenue, just west of Valero gas station, was repaired/installed.
Sarzotti Shade Structure Shelter #2 is complete (see below picture), Shelter #3 (closest to the playground) is almost complete, and the large shelter is waiting for a special delivery of tongue and groove ceiling wood which should be delivered in the next two weeks. Construction is delayed because of this delivery. Construction should be finished the beginning of January.
