Potential Transportation Tax The Ventura County Transportation Commission (‘VCTC) is considering putting a measure on the ballot to approve a sales tax for transportation. This has been done in many other counties. If the measure is to garner the needed two thirds voter approval it will be important to have the support of all City Councils in the County. With that in mind, Darren Kettle VCTC Executive Director, is making a presentation to each City Council about the potential ballot measure. He will attend the March 8 meeting for that purpose. Bid Opening for Sarzotti Picnic Area Shelters The bid opening for the Sarzotti Picnic Area Shelters was delayed for two weeks to assure the proper HUD references were in place to support the CDBG funding grant. The bid opening will now be March 10 and the bid award is expected to be presented to the Council March 23 meeting.

Golden State Water Rates Golden State Water filed a request with the CPUC this week to increase rates to Ojai customers to make up for lower-than-projected water sales. If approved, the rate increase would last for 46 months to allow the water company to recoup revenues lost to the lower water sales, mostly due to conservation from the drought. For a typical residential customer, this would mean an additional 9.9 percent or $7.97 more per month for the 46-month amortization period. The City is planning to file a protest to the CPUC over the “advice letter” filed by Golden State. Acting City Manager I will be out of Town attending my daughter’s graduation Friday and Saturday.
