LA SALLE CATHOLIC SCHOOL NEWS Website: http://www.lasalle.pvt.k12.ia.us Holy Cross Center 870-2405 October 12, 2017 Issue 8 “WHEREVER I AM, GOD IS” Thank You to the Holy Cross/NBV Fire Department for their donation to our kitchen. A new microwave was purchased. Thank you also, to the firefighters and EMTs for hosting La Salle students on a tour of the fire station and equipment. They patiently explained how the equipment and tools are used and demonstrated splints and backboards. They talked about fire safety and using a fire extinguisher simulator, gave students a chance to handle a fire extinguisher. The fire department gave each student a hat, pencil, and fire prevention and safety information/coloring book. We greatly appreciate the work of the fire department in teaching fire prevention and safety. We recognize how fortunate our community is to have a knowledgeable and skilled fire department. Thank You to the donors who participated in our latest blood drive. Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center states, “Because of your 21 donations, your blood drive provided up to 84 products for patients in need. Thank you for joining in our mission to help save lives!” Tax Credit Too Good to be True? Not at all. If you file an Iowa Income Tax Return, your contributions to the Our Faith School Tuition Organization (STO) receive a 65% tax credit. That means for every $1000 you donate, you receive an Iowa income tax credit of $650, which reduces your Iowa tax liability by $650. In addition, the entire amount of your gift qualifies for federal deductibility. And that gift you made? It helps make a Catholic school education affordable for every child, regardless of their families’ financial situation. It really is that simple.
