Weekly Incident Summary March 13-19, 2017 HALTON HILLS, ON – Tuesday, March 21, 2017 12:02 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Mountainview Rd S and Argyll Rd. Halton Regional Police and ambulance were on scene upon arrival. Fire staff secured the vehicles, applied absorbant and cleared the scene. 15:27 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an ambulance assist on Fourth Line. Upon arrival on scene ambulance advised that fire was not required. 17:46 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a public assist on Abbitt Cr in Acton. On scene fire staff detected a burning smell. A pan was in the oven when it was turned on, causing the alarm to go off. No further concerns. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 17:50 Hours - Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on Byron St. On scene fire staff met with the homeowner who did not have a valid burn permit. The fire was extinguished and the homeowner was advised of the burn permit process for future burns. 23:39 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Ridgegate Cres for a new home under construction. Fire staff observed that a propane heating unit was being used to heat the house and was connected to an outside gas meter. Fire staff shut off shut off the outside gas meter to the heating unit and command was terminated. Thursday, March 23, 2017 11:25 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an unknown odour investigation on Queen St E in Acton. On scene fire staff met with building personnel who were complaining about the smell of propane. Using detectors fire staff found zero readings inside the unit, as well as adjoining units. 15:51 Hours - Fire fighters responded to the report of a possible structure fire. On scene fire staff found leaves burning that had spread to the fence. The fire was extinguished with no further concerns. 16:48 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 50 in Erin. Ambulance was on scene upon arrival. Fire staff assisted with extracting the patient from the vehicle and loading the patient onto the ambulance.

18:38 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of smoke in the area on River Drive. Fire staff walked the perimeter of the property and was unable to find any evidence of any smoke and/or fire. 19:56 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on Charles St. On scene fire staff met with the homeowner who was concerned their CO detector had gone off earlier and was chirping. Using detectors fire staff found zero readings on all levels of the home. It was determined to be a faulty CO detector. Fire staff replaced the CO detector as well as installed a new smoke alarm to replace an older unit upstairs. Friday, March 24, 2017 11:21 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an ambulance assist for the report of a customer with chest pains and trouble breathing, on Queen St E in Acton. On scene fire staff provided patient care until ambulance arrived. 15:28 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Argyll Rd & Mountainview Rd S. The vehicles had collided in the intersection, causing one of the vehicles to leave the road, with a traffic light pole knocked over. Fire staff assisted with patient care and stabilized the vehicles. Saturday, March 25, 2017 06:40 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision on Winston Churchill Blvd, north of Wanless Dr. Halton Regional Police were on scene upon arrival. Crews used extrication tools to gain access to the patient, allowing ambulance staff to begin treatment. The trucks diesel fuel tank was breached, leaking fuel into the vehicle and onto the roadway and the drainage ditch. Hazmat containment was initiated, with the Hazmat team called to the scene. Once the vehicle was removed from under the trailer, crews extricated the patient and ambulance transported the driver to the hospital. 10:21 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation, on Guelph St. While enroute, fire staff was advised this was a false alarm. On scene building staff advised that the alarm switch was activated during routine maintenance. 11:55 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Highway 7 and 22 Sideroad. Halton Regional Police were on scene upon arrival. Fire staff applied absorbant to leaking fluids and disconnected the battery. The scene was turned over to Halton Regional Police. Sunday, March 26, 2017 05:42 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision on Ninth Line. Prior to arrival on scene, the driver was out of the vehicle and in the care of ambulance staff.

23:43 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on Elmore Drive in Acton. On scene fire staff entered the home and using detectors found zero readings.
