Weekly Incident Summary July 25 – 31, 2016 HALTON HILLS, ON – Monday, July 25, 2016 03:17 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Trafalgar Road. On scene staff met with the homeowners who explained that they had continually seen a bright flash in the sky for over 30 minutes. Staff stated that it was lightning. Staff walked the property and around the house with a thermal imagery camera to check for any other possibilities but found nothing. Heat lightning was explained to the homeowners. 19:21 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a truck fire in the area of Trafalgar Road and Steeles Ave. On arrival crews found a tractor trailer unit loaded with auto parts with both the tractor and trailer in flames. Steeles Ave was closed in both directions while crews extinguished the flames. No injury to the driver. Loss is estimated at $100,000. 20:22 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on Tidey Ave in Acton. On scene staff met with the homeowners who did not have a valid burn permit and were burning during a burn ban. The fire was extinguished and the burn permit process was explained for any future burns. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 05:29 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on James Street. On scene fire staff checked the home using detectors and zero readings were found. The homeowners were advised to replace their existing detectors. 17:45 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a three-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Guelph St & Sinclair. On scene fire staff disabled vehicles and assisted with patient care. 19:02 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a hydro pole on fire on Moultrey Cres. On scene fire staff found a small fire at the top of a hydro pole. Fire staff secured the scene and stood by for Hydro. 20:31 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on Morgan Dr. On scene staff met with the homeowner who did not have a valid burn permit and was burning during a burn ban. The fire was extinguished and the burn permit process was explained for any future burn. Wednesday, July 27, 2016 06:02 Hours - Fire fighters responded to a public assist on Hyde Park Drive. While enroute fire was advised they were not required.
2 08:54 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on 5 Sideroad. On scene staff met with building personnel who advised that the pull station was accidentally pulled. 10:08 Hours - Fire fighters responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on Armstrong Ave. Halton Regional Police were on scene upon arrival. Crews stabilized the vehicle and contained the leaking fluids. 19:42 Hours - Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on Ballantine Drive. On scene staff checked the home using detectors with no problems found. 20:51 Hours - Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on Highway 7. On scene staff met with the homeowners who did not have a valid burn permit and was burning during a burn ban. The fire was extinguished and the burn permit process was explained fur future burns. Thursday, July 28, 2016 03:36 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on McNabb St. On scene fire staff entered the home and using detectors found zero readings. Fire staff checked the alarms and were unable to duplicate the issue. 17:00 Hours - Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint in the area of Regional Road 25 and 25 Sideroad. On scene staff met with the homeowners who did not have a valid burn permit and was burning during a burn ban. The fire was extinguished and the burn permit process was explained fur future burns. 17:02 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Regional Road 25. Upon arrival fire was advised this was an on-site false alarm caused by contractors working on the system. 21:33 Hours - Fire fighters responded to Wildwood Road in Glen Williams for the report of Chinese Lanterns being let off in the area. On scene staff met with the homeowner and advised of the burn ban and how dangerous the lighting of these lanterns can be. The homeowner was advised that no further lanterns were to be lit. Friday, July 29, 2016 14:53 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on McIntyre Cres. On scene staff entered the home and using detectors found zero readings. Crews installed two smoke detectors and one CO alarm. 15:22 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Barber Dr & Argyll Rd. Halton Regional Police and ambulance were on scene upon arrival and advised Fire was not required. Saturday, July 30, 2016 01:45 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on Blue Mountain Place. On scene staff met with the homeowners who did not have a valid burn permit and was burning during a burn ban. The fire was extinguished and the burn permit process was explained fur future burns.
3 20:35 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on John Street. On scene staff met with the homeowners who did not have a valid burn permit and was burning during a burn ban. The fire was extinguished and the burn permit process was explained fur future burns. Sunday, July 31, 2016 07:26 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of smoke in the area on River Drive. Fire crews arrived on scene to smoke showing from the roof at both ends of the abandoned building. Once access was gained a small smoldering fire was found inside the old mill. The fire was extinguished. 12:45 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of high heat in the floor on the main level on Elliot Drive in Acton. Crews checked the home with the thermal imaging camera, with no abnormal readings found. The homeowner was advised to monitor the conditions and call back if any signs of smoke or heat was noticed. Smoke alarms and CO alarms were checked, no follow-up required. 20:34 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Mountainview Rd N. On scene staff met with building personnel who advised that a resident making popcorn had accidentally activated the alarm system. Fire staff confirmed that all was normal with the unit and the resident. The alarm was reset by building personnel with no further problems.
