Constructed in felted wool and embellished with embroidery, this project uses unique over-dyed wool threads and perle cotton. The pillow can either be stitched on a black or white background. The student will need to indicate their choice when registering. Students will learn to make freezer paper patterns and work with placement guide templates to accurately transfer the design to wool. Basting techniques, appliqué techniques and needle slanting techniques will be taught. Traditional embroidery stitches will be used to embellish the design and the final construction of the pillow will be fully discussed. *Submit your kit fee with a registration coupon on page 9 to Nancy Walsh.

OUTREACH — Bea Bell Hopefully you all have welcomed in a new year of anticipated joy and good health. While many of us are still wondering where the old year went and are trying to get our footing from the whirl wind created by its going I can tell you it has been a busy, busy year in the outreach area. Throughout the year we have given and sent items to various groups and the November meeting was one of great caring and concern for those less fortunate. The items received for Operation Christmas Child was overwhelming; a tableful of toys, games, etc were given to the church to be incorporated into boxes sent to children of need at this holiday time. Your gifts of Christmas ornaments, fifteen in all, given to the church for their tree was an inspiration for this holiday season and a testament of the creativity of the talented hands of this guild. Looking forward to 2015 some new thoughts are in the offering; while some old projects are still trying to be worked out. Kathy Knoop of Quilts for Kids will hopefully be joining us for the January meeting. If anyone has any ideas as to how we can reach out to the community please let me know and it can be taken to the board for thought and consideration. A table will be set up at the 2015 Exhibit to make the public aware of our involvement in the community. Be sure to stop by and enjoy the handiwork.
