Facts about Fredericton you may not know…  Fredericton was the first City in Canada to offer free wireless internet with Fred-eZone.

 Big Ben of England has a little brother…Little Ben

is the working model and it is located at Fredericton’s Christ Church Cathedral, (you can see the spire in the picture below). It was the first cathedral church built outside of England on what was British soil at the time.

 The “cow catcher” that adorns the front of a train was invented by John Hamilton of Fredericton and was designed to push things, including cows & livestock, off the rails in front of the train.

 Children of Fredericton heard “The Night Before Christmas” long before it was published. The author, Clement Moore was the godson of Jonathan Odell and a frequent visitor to the Odell homestead.

 The University of New Brunswick (UNB) was founded in 1785 (2nd oldest University in North America)

 The Beaverbrook Art Gallery houses the famous

“Santiago El Grande” painting by surrealist Salvador Dali.

 The Saint John River flows for 450 miles making it the largest river on the eastern seaboard. It divides Fredericton into the north and south sections of the City.
