Introduction to Manufacturing 9-12 2 Full Year none Manufacturing Technology

VII: Course Content: Introduction to Manufacturing Technology introduces students to state of the art technology that is used in today’s high–technical manufacturing industries. Students aspiring to become engineers or technicians will develop the essential skills needed to prepare for the highperformance manufacturing workplace of the twenty-first century. Students will perform activities and become familiar with the areas of Industrial Design, Quality Control, Electrical, Mechanical Support Systems, Automation and Material Handling, and Manufactured Processes.

VIII. Course Outcomes: Students will … A. Demonstrate automated techniques by programming robots, conveyers, and other material handling devices. B. Develop design processes using advanced 2D and 3D CAD software as well as parametric design software. C. Develop an understanding of electricity and equipment used to measure the many different types of electricity. D. Recognize the importance of quality control in industries and ways to measure to close tolerances. E. Experience different types of manufacturing systems and the different machines and operations that are used to produce a product. F. Develop fundamentals about mechanical devices. G. Organize and apply skills needed to work effectively in teams toward a common goal. H.

IX. ENRICHMENT MATERIAL: Computer software and technology learning modules using technology equipment.

X. ENABLING GOALS: A. Students will learn how to safely use tools, machines and materials. B. Students will apply skills in personal management and systems. C. Students will demonstrate problem solving and decision making abilities involving technological system. D. Students will continue to develop lifelong learning skills in a technological society.

XI. METHODS OF EVALUATION: Students will be graded on their Technology Learning Modules, both group and individual. Both pre-testing and post-testing will be done in the instructional areas. Scores will be a combination of all points assigned throughout the semester and tabulated as a percentage. A. Grading Scale:

95-100=A 90-94 =A87-89 = B+ 84-86 = B 80-83 = B77-79 = C+ 74-76 = C 70-73 = C67-69 = D+ 64-66 = D 63-60 = D59 below F
