Ujjain Engineering College Ujjain presents

Mech Tech Meet Season-8 3rd-4th March, 2017

About Mech Tech Meet: Mech Tech Meet is the initiative of students of Ujjain Engineering College, Ujjain to encourage creativity and innovation among engineering students. Started in the year 2010, Mech Tech Meet has now become an epitome of student level technical competition in Madhya Pradesh. The events are designed so as to challenge students with complex situations and make them sport their true potent. In the due course of journey, Mech Tech Meet is entering its 8th Edition this year with even more challenging and thrilling competitions in its basket.

Vision:To stand as a premium platform where the students can aspire, endeavour, and exhibit their creativity and knowledge for welfare of society and mankind.

Mission:We strive to bring along the student fraternity on a single stage and harness their calibre and potent to invite smarter solutions for technological uncertainties.

Season – 8:The season- 8 of the technical meet will be even more exciting and decorated than ever before. This season, we present an extravaganza of heart throbbing competitions that will challenge the participants to think beyond limits and the one with out of the box thinking will emerge as true victor. – This season Mech Tech Meet proudly joins hand with Techkriti IIT Kanpur, and becomes first students meet to be held in association with any IIT. – The Winners in this season’s competitions will get direct entry to the finale of Techkriti events and thus Mech Tech Meet provides you with a chance to get wildcard entry to Techkriti. – This season is going to be based on the theme “Towards Sustainability” and the competitions will promote this idea among students. – This season will be even more exciting for the students as new events for different branches of engineering are going to be introduced.

Events in Season-8:• Robo Club:1.) Robo Race: Problem Statement:- Design and build a manually controlled wired or wireless robot which is capable of completing race successfully in minimum time crossing the obstacles in path successfully. A team of 4 members or less is needed to participate in the event. The size of the bot must not be greater than 25 cm*25 cm*20 cm.

2.) Robo Soccer: Problem Statement:- Participants are required to build a manually controlled wired or wireless bot capable of playing soccer on arena specially designed for robotic soccer match. A team of 4 members or less will be eligible to participate in the event and the size of the bot must not exceed 30 cm*30 cm*30 cm (including any attachment, if any).

3.) Robo Strike:Problem Statement:- Design and build a manually controlled wired or wireless robot which would have the capability to blast balloons by adding any mechanism only on one side of bot. The team should not have more than 4 members and the size of the bot should not exceed 25cm* 25cm* 20cm.

4.) Line Follower:Problem Statement:- To design and fabricate a robot that is capable of detecting a particular colour and follow a linear pattern of that colour. A team of not more than 4 members will ne allowed to participate in the event.

• Mech Challenge:1.) Bottle Rocket:Problem Statement:- Make a rocket that can propel using a fuel of water-air mixture. The material should be able to bear the pressure and must not burst into pieces, i.e. brittle material should not be used as the rocket body. The weight of the empty rocket (without fuel) must not be more than 2 kg. The volume of water to be filled in the rocket as fuel will be 1 lit. and a time of 25 sec will be provided to pump air in the rocket to pressurise the mixture.

2.) Hover Sprint:Problem Statement:- Each team will need to design and fabricate a manually controlled wired or wireless amphibian vehicle that can hover on a cushion of air and must be easily manoeuvrable. The hovercraft must be strong enough to push objects of specified weight and complete the task in minimum time. The team must be of not more than 3 members. The allowed dimensions of vehicle are 50 cm*50 cm*50 cm.

3.) Hydro-bot-Climb:Problem Statement:- Make a simple bot using simple hydraulic principles that can climb a rope. No other mechanism other than hydraulics will be permitted to be used in the bot. A team of 3 members or less will be allowed to compete and the winners will be decided on the basis of completion time

• Mind Stimulators:1.) Bridge Designer:Problem Statement:- Design and construct an bridge using popsicles/ice-cream sticks that can withstand maximum load. The span of the bridge should not be less 500 mm and not greater than 800 mm. The allowed weight of the bridge must not exceed 2.50 kg. A team of maximum 4 members will be allowed to participate in the event. The bridge than can sustain maximum will be declared as winner.

2.) Circuit trader:Problem Statement:- Teams need to earn some virtual money by answering some questions and buy circuit components with that money. Then they need to sell those circuits to fellow teams or volunteers and the team with maximum money at the end will be declared as winner. The event will test the teams’ knowledge as well as their marketing and trading skills. The team must be of 3 members or less.

3.) Eraldus:Problem Statement:- Propose a unique insulating setup to minimize the heat transfer rate without using electricity in any form. This setup will be used to check the melting of a definite volume of ice and the setup with least volume melted will be declared winner. The team should comprise of 2 members.

4.) Blind Coder:Problem Statement:- Blind Coding is an event in which the programmer will code without screens. The programmer will develop a creation without testing it. The participant should have blind faith in his/her abilities. This event will test your ⦁ Programming ⦁ Speed ⦁ Accuracy A team of 3 members will be needed to participate in the event.

• Brain Teasers:1.) Auto Quiz:This event will test the knowledge of automobile and related technologies, of the participant. The event will be conducted in two rounds and the participant with the highest score at the end of two rounds will be announced as winner.

2.) Techno-vator *In this event, the participants will have to submit a product concept of a device that tends to align with the concept of sustainability. We will be declaring some topics on which the idea of the device should be based for eg. Green energy, recycling of products etc. the event will be conducted online and participants will have to submit their abstract at the fest’s website. A panel of experts will decide the winning concept on the grounds of realistic approach, effectiveness, efficiency, cost, robustness etc. *(This event needs to be discussed and refinement is needed to make it more realistic.)

3.) Smart City Design Quest:This event will be conducted under the patronage of Ujjain Municipal Corporation. The participants will be given different problems in the path of developing a smart city and they need to find a technical solution to the problem. Some of the areas of problems are: • • • • •

Sanitation and Drainage Water purification, storage and distribution network Waste Management Town Planning and architecture Public transport system

The event will be conducted in two rounds. In the first round, the participants will have to submit their abstracts and the selected participants will be allowed to present their concept in front of the expert panel. The winner will be decided by the panel.

• Online Events:1.) Pic-O-Mania:Participants need to submit their self-clicked photographs on the Facebook page of Mech Tech Meet and the photograph with maximum no. of likes will be declared as the winner. 2.) How its Made?:Participants will have to explain the manufacturing process of any product by means of a photo collage consisting of 6-10 photos. The process could also be explained by adding a text with the collage with a word limit of 40 words.

Thank You
