Saturday, April 12 Competition 1 - 3pm. Sign in and warm-‐up from 11 am. Rhythm and smooth classes: 3 – 5 pm, taught by judges (no partner required) Evening Dance: Crimson Tide Ballroom Dancers http://ctbd.org/ 7 – 10 pm. Moore Hall Gym, 3rd floor Moore Hall University of Alabama Campus Tuscaloosa http://tour.ua.edu/tourstops/moore.html Competition is open to any college student registered for classes Fall 2013 or Spring 2014 semester Classes are open to the community Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot (smooth dances) Rumba, Cha Cha, Salsa/Mambo, Argentine Tango East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Hustle $15 for competition and classes (per person) $10 competition only $10 classes only $5 observe competition Kimberly Smith and Steve Hadley, Championship and National Adjudicators, United States Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Required: smooth soled shoes that won’t damage or mark the floor. Leather soles are best. Clothing should cover appropriately. Suggested: Women: short skirts or pants for latin/rhythm dances, long skirts/gowns for smooth dances. Men: dress pants, vest, shirt and tie for smooth, t-‐shirt or open collar shirt for latin/rhythm

[email protected] 205 454-‐2378 THE COMPETITION Dancers will be competing in heats of up to 7 couples (and up to 14 couples if semifinals are needed). At the beginning of each heat, couples will enter the floor, find a place and will dance approximately 90 seconds for the judges. If there are more than 7 couples, the judges will choose up to 7 couples for a final heat. Ribbons will be awarded for the top three couples chosen by the judges from the finals of each heat. There will be breaks after the Foxtrot and Argentine tango to change shoes and costumes. There are no syllabus restrictions.
