The vestibule, the extra area outside the inner tent's sleeping compartment that is still protected by the flysheet, provides storage, a place to dry your equipment and somewhere to cook food when the weather is inclement. A wood stove should not be used inside any tent without a stove jack (opening in the tent for stove pipe), due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. When cooking indoors, always be sure to have adequate ventilation. A tunnel tent requires stakes and guylines to stand upright. Tunnel tents have an entrance on the short end but it is often possible to enter from both sides of the vestibule. Very large tunnel tents usually have two vestibules to facilitate both storage and logistics when there are several people in the tent.
