MINSTER LOCAL SCHOOLS TREASURER REPORT SEPTEMBER 21, 2015 1. Under new business on the agenda there is a resolution to authorize the Southwestern Ohio EPC to advertise and accept bids for buses. They are seeking a bid for 166 buses in this consortium. Bids will be read November 4. This resolution does not bind us at this time but once the bids come in, we can then accept a bus if we so choose. There is one bus replacement in FY2016 since we have 2 in our fleet that we tend to not use when leaving the district. 2. We received casino monies in late August in the amount of $21,818. Last year the August distribution was $22,427. 3. At the EPC meeting I attended on September 8, we were told that natural gas prices can be expected to be 20% less than last winter due to the stock market declines. With that in mind, the EPC had hedged 50% of the natural gas for 2017, and the membership voted to authorize them to hedge an additional 25% for 2017 locking in the current rates. We are now billed monthly rather than level billing with the company Direct Energy for our supply. For August, we are paying $3.2689 per unit whereas last year with Constellation, we were paying $4.1328 per unit. Assuming usage stays as last winter and prices this year remain steady, that is a savings of $10,000, 4. Brenda, Brad Garmann, Wayne Cohlman, and I will be meeting with OFCC for the first planning meeting on October 5. From then we will have more information to share with the Board on the full process. If I have information that will affect my forecast, the forecast I submit in October will change from what was shared at the special meeting held September 2. 5. At the meeting I will share with the board a tentative timeline of levy planning activities for a November election. In the last presidential election, 2050 Minster School District Auglaize County residents voted. In May 2011 when our 1% income tax was on the ballot, 1031 Minster School District Auglaize County residents voted.
