2017 Clarence Girls’ Softball Tournament Rules

1. Age as of January 1st per NSA. 2. NSA official rules will apply with exception of:  Team rosters must be submitted and proof of insurance shown to tournament officials one (1) hour prior to start of your first game. Copies of birth certificates do not need to be produced at registration, but copies should be carried by a coach/manager and be available upon request at the tournament.  Eighteen (18) player’s maximum per roster. A player may be listed on only one roster for the tournament weekend. Players may play for only one team and one age group during the tournament weekend even if their team is eliminated.  Mercy rule will be a 12 run differential after 3 innings, a 10 run differential after 4 innings, and an 8 run differential after 5 innings.  Forfeits are recorded as a 7 – 0 score. 3. Games will be limited to 90 minutes for pool play, play-in and quarterfinal games; no new inning will start after 90 minutes of play. There will be no time limit for semifinal and championship games. The International tie-breaker will be in effect for tied elimination playoff play-in and quarterfinal games that exceed 90 minutes, and semifinal and championship games that exceed 7 innings. 4. Games will be seven (7) innings except no new inning will start after 90 minutes of play. The International tie-breaker will be used for pool play games that are tied after 7 innings if the game is still within the 90 minute timeframe. Pool play games can end in a tie. 5. Pool play team standing tie-breakers determined by:  Best record  Run differential: maximum 8 per game  Least number of runs allowed  Runs for  Coin flip 6. Home team is determined by coin flip in first round. Highest seed is home team on day two. Home team is official scorer and must report final score to Tournament officials. 7. Teams may “Bat the Bench”. If you bat the bench and a player is hurt while base running and cannot continue, the injured base runner may be replaced without penalty by the “last out”. If a player leaves the game because of an injury, you will not be forced to take an out and the girls that follow her would move up in the batting order. If the injured player misses her turn in the batting order she will not be allowed to re-enter the game. 8. No batting or infield practice allowed on game diamonds. Outfield practice is permitted.

9. Playoff positions and game times will be posted on the tournament page at www.ClarenceGirlsSoftball.com website by 9:00pm on Saturday. In the event of technical failure, tournament officials will call Coaches and/or Team Managers with the time and location for their team’s first Sunday game. 10. During single elimination play on Sunday, teams will be re-bracketed after each round, with the highest seed remaining playing the lowest seed remaining, etc. 11. Clarence recreational parks are No Smoking and No Dog facilities. 12. Metal spikes are allowed for the 16U and 18U age groups only.

10U Age Group (Only) Additional Rules 1. The batter is out on a dropped third strike. 2. The infield fly rule is NOT in effect.

Concessions Concession stands are located at both locations. Hot food includes hot dogs, hamburgers, italian sausages and “taco in a bag”. Various snacks, candies and ice cream novelties. Beverages include soft drinks, sport drinks, bottled water and coffee. Tournament t-shirt and softball item vendors will be set-up at the Main Street Town Park location.

Weather Changes in the schedule due to weather during the tournament weekend will be made by the Tournament Director and Head of Umpires. In the event of inclement weather, the tournament director reserves the right to modify the tournament format, shorten games, and/or change the guaranteed number of games.

Refund Policy No refunds after schedules are posted unless the position can be filled by another paying team. If the tournament is cancelled due to inclement weather prior to games being played, Clarence Softball may retain a maximum of $100 per team from the registration fee to cover pre-tournament costs.
