Tools and Techniques used to create an interactive website- M2 Implementing rollover buttons using DreamweaverThis is done in a similar way to inserting an image, although when you insert it a menu will come up that asks for the original image and the roll over image, you link to both images and when you roll over the original image the secondary image will appear and the original will disappear. Implementing the game on the websiteThis is a step by step run though on how I got the game to work on my website: 1. Compile your game in html 5 using game makers complier 2. This will give you 3 files, a HTML file that is called whatever you named your game, a folder called HTML5GAME and a file called favicon which is your game icon put these in the folder with your web page that you wish the game to be on. 3. You will need to write some text to have a link on to the game then link this to the html file within your folder when you click this link it will take you to a new tab with your game on it Cascading style sheetsThis is a template for your webpage; it determines things like font size, font decoration, font colour and font. Within Dreamweaver there is a built in feature to help you create a CSS document, It takes your input in an easy GUI, that simply asks you to choose the relevant information from a list and then it writes out the HTML code onto a CSS for you, you can also edit this document or fully write it yourself. AnimationI implemented my web banner that I had produced. 1. Export it from after effects to a SWF file that supports sound 2. Move this file into the folder that contains your webpage you wish to have you banner on 3. Simply import it the same why you would import an image by going to insert image and select its file location This will now play your animation when your webpage loads. Audio/visual elementsThe animated banner which is explained above has audio on it, using an SWF file this means that the audio will loop as the animation does showing audio elements within my website.

Meta taggingMeta data is Data about data. These go in the head of a webpage html code, they can be used to describe things about the webpage that other tags in the head section of code may not describe such as, key words that will be found when searching in search engines, for example if you type game into Google it comes up with game.co.uk as an option this normally means that they have the word “game” as of their meta tags.

Ensuring compliance with W3CThis is the main international standards organization for the web. It was founded by Tim Berners-Lee who was famous for founding the WWW. They try to enforce compatibility across all the members of the industry. For example when dealing with Scalable vector graphics it gives you a report telling you how SVG work and then how you should implement them into a web page, big sites such as game and the BBC website are likely to use these rules and regulations as they have a lot of traffic all the time so they need to try and make it combatable to as many browsers as they can and compliance with W3C helps them achieve this.
