WEEK B-E5
JOHN 15:1-8
Jesus said to his disciples: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and every one that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit. You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you. Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me will be thrown out like a branch and wither; people will gather them and throw them into a fire and they will be burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.”
1. Understand It!
Pruned
To cut or trim off dead or overgrown ranches.
Wither
To shrivel; fade; decay.
Glorified
To honor with praise, admiration, or worship.
2. Explore It! Jesus uses an analogy today of the vine and the branches. Mankind is the branch and God is the vine. When mankind truly listens to the word of God, mankind can bear fruit and become closer to God. Jesus reminds us that just as important, mankind must also allow God to enter their lives. Those who do not allow God to do so and live in accordance to His Word will not be welcomed in Heaven. Instead, they will be condemned.
3. Connect It! Jesus is reminding us how important it is to listen to Him and to follow Him. We are like plants that grow fruit. If we listen to Jesus, if we follow Him, we will bear fruit. What does it mean to bear fruit? That means we will do good things. We will do good deeds, be virtuous, and be good people. As a Thieu Nhi, as a member, we have to remember to follow Jesus and that means to follow His commands. If we want to be good, we need to follow our Youth-Leaders and our parents. Our YouthLeaders and our parents teach us about Jesus, and that is how we follow Him. If we do not listen to our Youth-Leaders and our parents when they teach us about Jesus, how can we follow Jesus? How can we bear fruit?
4. Live It! [ LOYALTY ] Loyalty means a feeling of support for something or someone. Be loyal to Jesus. Follow Him. Listen to what He has to say! This week, make sure that you remain in Jesus every day and unite with Him through holy communion daily.
5. Remember It! 6. Pray It! Lord Jesus, help us to follow You in everything we do. Help us to listen to Your commands so that we can bear fruit in our lives. Amen. (John 15:5)
