Welcome to the Spring 2018 semester, parents! We've made it to the half-way point of the 2017-2018 school year! We've had a busy January between wrapping up first semester classes, testing, snow days and beginning second semester classes. Time is flying by! The new semester has also brought changes to our VI Program at Sanderson High School. Mrs. Mair Lewis, one of our braillists, has retired and is moving on to new and exciting adventures as she and her husband move back to Wales, UK. We are eagerly awaiting applicants and hope to announce a new braillist in the coming months. We wish Mrs. Lewis the best of luck and safe travels. I am also pleased to announce the newest member of the VI team, Ms. Anna Mayes, Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVIs). We have had a growing program at Sanderson over the last couple of years, and Ms. Mayes will be joining me in providing quality services to your students. Ms. Mayes is new to the Wake County Public School System and will be introducing herself to the parents of students she is providing services for in the coming weeks. Co-teaching is a new endeavor for both Ms. Mayes and myself. We will be collaborating and planning together for all of the students for the remainder of this school year. We are very excited about the opportunities provided to students given access to two TVIs! If I am currently your case manager, I will continue in that role and be your primary contact for the remainder of the year. Just like the students – you now have access to two TVIs! As we progress through this transition, Ms. Mayes and/or myself will be in contact should there be any significant changes to our program at Sanderson High School. As always, please feel free to contact us with questions or concerns. Contact information for both Ms. Mayes and myself can be found below. Happy 2018, Spartans! Heather Livingstone, TVI
