November 1, 2013 Dear Parents, A new month of November has just arrived today and our first quarter of school ended today. We hope to get report cards out to you on Fri., Nov. 8th. There are lots of school & community events coming up and we’ll try our best to keep you posted on all of these activities. Here are a few reminders for the upcoming weeks. “Special Thank You’s” - We would like to thank the following local firefighters from the Litchfield Fire Department who visited the Libby-Tozier School last Friday the 25th. Our firefighters were Litchfield Fire Chief Stan Labbe, Ted Holeway, Corey Wilson and Zach Daigle. The children enjoyed the classroom presentations and checked out the fire trucks and safety apparatus. The firefighters noted that the children were well behaved throughout their visit with us. Oak Hill Drama Club - The Little Theatre in the Woods at the Oak Hill High School auditorium presents Ghostchasers by Tim Kelly. This is directed by Lucy Rioux and Assisted by Laura Eldridge. Performances are: Fri., Nov. 1st & Sat., Nov. 2nd both nights at 7:00 PM and again on Sun., Nov. 3rd at 2 PM. The ticket prices are: $5.00 for Students & Seniors and General Admission is $7.00. Check it out.

“Fall Back Time” - The new cycle has come and it’s time to set the clocks back one hour for Daylight Savings Time. Don’t forget to set it BACK late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Libby-Tozier School Fund-raiser - Information regarding the Meadows Farms fund-raiser came home at Libby-Tozier on Tuesday of this week. It will help us to raise money to fund special activities for our students & parents. The deadline for orders is Tues., Nov 12th. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call the school. Thank you for your support. “Local and State Voting!” - Please do not forget to get out to your local polling places and vote on Tuesday, November 5th. Please check first with your local Town Office for its closing times. In Litchfield, please call 268-4721, for Sabattus at 375-4331 and in Wales, please call 375-8881. Parent-Teacher Conferences at the Primary Schools - Notices about these upcoming dates were sent home at both of the primary schools. If you haven't returned the notice requesting a date & time, please send them into the school office ASAP. Please call us and we’ll set you up with an appointment over the phone or send another form home to you. Please don’t put it off, just call us! Thank you.

Food Drives - Just a reminder that we will be having two separate food drives for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday in both Litchfield and Sabattus. Litchfield (and Wales) donations will be brought to the two local food pantries and donations in Sabattus will help us build food baskets for families in need at Sabattus Primary. We will be looking for items that are specific to your child’s grade level classroom lists. These lists help us guarantee that we are collecting a wider variety of staple foods for the pantry and/or the individual baskets being made. Please check out the notice that was sent home. Thank you for helping to make a difference for someone else in our three communities! Hannaford Helps Schools - Just a reminder that Hannaford is continuing to donate three school dollars for every four participating items purchased at their local stores. This is the 14th year that Hannaford has run this special program to help schools. The Libby-Tozier School and the Sabattus Primary School are both registered at the Lewiston Sabattus Street Hannaford location. If you receive a Hannaford Helps Schools coupon, you can either place it in the collection tower in the store or bring them into one of our primary offices at your child’s school. Every dollar helps support the children at our school. This very special program runs between Sept. 1st thru Dec. 1st. Thank you in advance for thinking of us! We Need Your Help - We absolutely need your land line phone numbers or cell numbers so that you can be reached in an emergency. We should always have a 2nd or 3rd contact number as well. Too many times we call and get a message “the mailbox has not been set up yet” or “the mailbox is full.” That leaves us at ground zero. Please help us help your child. Thank you! Empty Cartridges Wanted - Both the Libby-Tozier & Sabattus Primary Schools are collecting empty ink cartridges. We welcome you to send the used cartridges to either of the school offices for recycling. These donations help our schools earn reward money toward supplies or equipment. Thank you in advance for helping us! Scholastic Book Fair at Libby-Tozier - We are excited to offer an “Oasis for Reading” book fair the week of Monday, November 18th thru Friday, November 22nd. Shopping hours will be during school hours 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. We will also be open on the night of parent-teacher conferences on Tuesday, November 19th until 7 PM. More information will be coming regarding online purchases as well. Proceeds from the fair will go toward purchasing library supplies. Get a chance to start shopping for your “stocking stuffers.” Please stop in and check it out! Need Your Help! - Children should NOT be sent to school with prescription bottles or over-the-counter meds such as cough drops, cough syrup, Tums, aspirins, etc... All of the above should be transported by the parents and hand-delivered to the school nurse or secretary. There are times when a child is on medications for a short period of time. Parents should contact us and bring in the medication in the original prescription bottle. Remember if your child is sick and/or running a fever during the night they need stay home until they are fever-free and vomit-free for 24 hours. Thank you. If there are any questions or school related concerns, please feel free to call me any time at school. Thank you. Brian Albert, Principal
