Technical Theatre - Crew Leaders (Interview Not Required)
Crew Leaders Director of Photography
The Director of Photography is a student with prior art and/or photography experience. This student works closely with the Director, AD, Business Manager, Publicity Coordinator to schedule photo calls, run shoots, supply promotional photos, and assist with the collection and transference of archival materials.
Dramaturg
The Dramaturg is responsible for reading the script and then researching the historical and cultural background/significance. This student is the primary source of knowledge on the time period of the play, offering designers, cast, and crew a wealth of information. The Dramaturg compiles information and images into a file that is shared with the Stage Manager. Any background questions from cast or crew are directed to the Dramaturg.
Assistant Vocal Director
The Assistant Musical Director is a student with prior voice experience who shows leadership potential. This student works closely with the Musical Director to run vocal warm-ups and teach cast members in the event of absences. This student may also run and clean numbers during rehearsal when the Musical Director is not present.
Assistant Technical Director
An assistant to the TD / Student TD, the Assistant Technical Director will be a trainee, focusing on a few projects so the TD and Student TD can keep the whole production in mind.
Assistant Stage Manager
The Assistant Stage Manager works closely with the Stage Manager and crew to ensure a cleanly executed production. The ASM will often assist with prompting, blocking, and rehearsal reports as needed. During the run of the show, the ASM communicates with the SM to run transitions and communicate with the cast and crew.
Dance Captain
The Dance Captain is a student with prior dance/movement experience who shows leadership potential. This student works closely with the Choreographer to create routines and teach cast members in the event of absences. This student may also run and clean numbers during rehearsal when the Choreographer is not present.
Technical Theatre - Crew Leaders (Interview Not Required)
Crew Leaders Master Carpenter
This student is under the supervision of the TD, and is responsible for all the construction techniques and methods use in the construction of the set. The Master Carpenter will also progress the build, supervise the quality / accuracy, maintain the day-to-day needs of the shop, coordinate the rigging installation, and notify the TD when the shop is low on materials or a tool is malfunctioning / broken. The Master carpenter also assures all students in the shop are operating in a safe manner with proper PPEs (personal protective equipment).
Scenic Artist
The Scenic Artist is responsible for the painting of the scenery and props. The student will work with The TD and any student designers in creating painting techniques for particular items. The Scenic Artist will oversee all paint crew calls and report to the Student Technical Director to coordinate schedules.
Props Master/Mistress
The Props Master/Mistress will create and maintain locations for props during rehearsals, tech, and the run of the show. The Props Master/Mistress, assisted by the ASMs, will also tracks props during staging.
Master Electrician
The Master Electrician is the student responsible for ensuring the lighting equipment is hanged, focused, and run according to the light design. The Master Electrician will help the TD coordinate the schedule of the electrics crew with the TD.
Costumes Master/Mistress
The Costumes Master / Mistress is responsible for the costumes during the run of the production. This student will work the Stage Manager to make sure actors are taking proper care of their costumes. The Costumes Master / Mistress will maintain the organization of the costume shop, notify the Costume Designer and of any needed repairs, and take direction as to how to proceed.
Hair and Make-up Coordinator
The student responsible for the design and implementation of all hair and make-up needed for the production, this person will work closely with the Costume Designer and Wardrobe Coordinator. The Hair and Make-up Coordinator is responsible for communicating any restocking needs.
