Children’s Market Team Member (Volunteer) Information – Fall 2017 If you’re interested in volunteering with us, register at www.myconsignmentmanager.com/jaxfumc Team Member Benefits, Time Commitment and Shopping Times: Anyone who wants to shop on Tuesday at 3 pm must work 4 hours. With a variety of 2 hours shifts from 7 am until 8 pm, there’s something for every schedule. **The preview sale will be for workers and sellers only. No additional passes for will be offered via social media promotions or by request from current volunteers.** (That means a smaller crowd while you shop and more merchandise for shoppers during the public sale - a win for everyone.) Consignors who work the night owl shift on Friday and/or sorting on Saturday will receive an additional 5% of their sale and be eligible to shop at 2:30 pm during the following season’s sale. (Spring volunteers shop early in fall; Fall volunteers shop early the next spring.) Our volunteer early shopping time will be 3 pm – 8 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2017. Volunteers who worked sorting in the spring can enter 30 minutes early. This replaces the early ½ price shopping previously offered. Work Areas Set-up — Set up racks and tables for the sale, drop-off area and restocking area. Screening—Inspect inventory using our accepted items guidelines. Check for expiration dates on baby equipment, recalls, excessive wear, etc. Rejected items will be bundled by consignor # and sorted during the screening process. All accepted items will be moved to the staging area when screening is completed for each consignor. Staging (Sunday and Monday)— Staging volunteers will gather items from the check-in station and display them in an attractive and well organized fashion in the appropriate section. Volunteers will work in a specific area for their shift, which will help with traffic flow and organization. Make sure racks and tables are organized and sorted by size and gender. Screen for stained items. Attach claim tickets to large or high demand items, secure bags and purses, arrange tables and shelves of non-wearable inventory. Straightening-- During the sale, keep the floor organized and neat, double-check for misplaced items, assist shoppers with items, clearing out the discard racks and keeping a general sense of order on the sales floor. Selling (Check-Out)—Assist church members with bagging, counting items, retrieving claim ticket items, purses and other secured items at a check-out station. Sorting/Break-Down – Work on Friday night or Saturday morning to sort out and double-check sellers’ items for pick-up on Saturday afternoon. Saturday afternoon’s shift will be breaking down racks and tables, restoring the church to order for Sunday’s worship. Stationary Tasks—include greeting shoppers at the entrance, supervising our hold area, lost ticket station and monitor our purse area and family restroom traffic. This is great for someone who needs to sit or can’t be physically active but wants to help. What to wear: Comfortable clothes and shoes. An apron will be provided for your shift.
