Greetings DCSD Stakeholders, and welcome to a new school year! 2017-18 school year is here! I hope you enjoyed the summer break and celebrated the coming of a new school year with the people you cherish. So many good things happened across our school district in 2016-17—your collective work brought increased graduation rates, increased student attendance, increased numbers of students taking advanced courses, as well as an abundant number of athletic and academic championships and honors. The first day of school is just around the corner (August 23rd) and our students will soon be stepping onto school buses, walking through school doors, and entering their school’s classrooms, gyms, auditoriums and cafeterias. In the school district, our staff has been working hard throughout the summer to get curriculum organized, buses tuned up, and schools and classrooms prepared and ready for students. As I reflect on the 2016-17 school year, I feel so proud and humbled to serve the children and families in Duchesne County School District. The list of accolades and accomplishments really does go on…and on…and on. And, while we celebrate all these achievements, we are preparing for even greater successes in 2017-18. Meeting our lofty goals requires a commitment to excellence from all of us—it takes shared intelligence, coordination, focus, action, and YOU! The partnership between parents and educators will continue to be a key to our successes. Only together can we ensure every DCSD student thrives in school and is prepared for the future. Each new school year brings with it a renewed sense of possibility and excitement. I know I speak for all of us in Duchesne County School District that we’re looking forward to another great school year with you and your children. I truly hope that you enjoy these last days of summer with your family. I look forward to another exciting year watching our students learn, achieve, and grow. Very truly yours, J. David Brotherson Jr. Superintendent of Schools
