MID-LEVEL TECH SKILLS for MANUFACTURING JOBS Gain marketable manufacturing skills by creating and programming a functioning LED nightlight. This series of classes will introduce you to the technologies in high demand for jobs in our area. And at the end of the series you will take home an item you have designed and manufactured from start to finish. Skills you will learn include:
Electronics soldering Understanding microcontrollers Basic programming Solid and surface modelling How to take accurate measurements
Differences in CAD packages Fundamentals of 3D design and 3D printing Maintenance and troubleshooting of 3D printers.
Make a Smart Night Light: Learn everything needed to create a functional piece, such as basic electronics components, soldering skills, understanding microcontrollers and basic programming. Take home an Arduino for free. Three sessions, each building on the last. June 10th, 17th, and 24th, 11:00 am-1 pm Design a Night Light Case: Learn the fundamentals of 3D design, including the difference between solid and surface modeling, the types of CAD packages available, and how to take measurements. July 8th, 15th, and 22nd, 11:00 am-1 pm 3D Print a Night Light Case: Learn the fundamentals of 3D printing, including the types of printers available, how to choose the right object, maintenance and troubleshooting skills, and how to take measurements.
