50 Thomas More Way, San Francisco, CA 94132 w (415) 337-0100 w www.stmsf.org

Dear Parents: Thank you for your interest in St. Thomas More School for the 2016-2017 school year. Please complete the application form and return it to us with the $55, non-refundable, application fee. All students applying for kindergarten need to provide an official, embossed copy of their birth certificate. Students applying for kindergarten need to be five years old by September 1st, 2016. Students who are baptized Roman Catholics should also provide us with an official, embossed copy of their baptismal certificate. We will make copies of these and return the originals to you promptly. Kindergarten screening will be held on January 30th, 2016 for all those who have completed the application process. Students applying to grades one through eight will be tested. Once the application process is complete, a test date will be scheduled. A copy of your child’s most recent report card and test scores (where applicable) will need to be submitted before any final decision concerning acceptance can be made. We are including the financial policies for the 2015-2016 school year. Tuition rates for the next school year will be set during the budget process in April 2016. You should expect to see a slight increase. There are many factors that contribute to the decisions about acceptance at St. Thomas More School. They include primarily the family’s religion and whether or not the family is practicing their faith. Siblings and students currently enrolled in our preschool are given priority in the admissions process. It is helpful if that family has been both active in school events as well as prompt in meeting all financial obligations to the school. Children of graduates or others with a particular connection to the school are often given special consideration. It is additionally helpful if any family appears to be available to participate in school sponsored activities. Although we would love to be able to accept every child who applies to St. Thomas More School, that is not always possible. There are often more applicants for most grades than we have space to accept. Having said all this, we encourage you to complete and return your application promptly. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Additional information is also available at our school website at www.stthomasmoreschool.org. Sincerely,

Marie Fitzpatrick Principal

2015-2016 FINANCIAL POLICIES OF ST. THOMAS MORE SCHOOL K-8 TUITION The 2015-16 tuition rate at St. Thomas More School is $6,600 for one child, $12,675 for two children, $17,390 for three children and $4,500 for each additional child. Tuition rates are increased slightly every year, usually between 3-8%. In an effort to cut back on the amount of extra fees, we have included the cultural and disaster fee of $100 per child in the tuition amount for this school year. This fee is used to help subsidize the cultural programs of the school, e.g. Opera a la Carte, art and craft programs from Peopleologie and MuseoItalo Americano and other special assemblies. It also covers the costs of updating food, water and other supplies in order to be prepared for earthquakes or other natural disasters. This also includes the fee charged for students ($5) and parents ($15) to complete Shield the Vulnerable training and background checks. Please know the actual cost to educate a child at St. Thomas More School for the 2015-2016 school year is $8,992. Yearly The entire year's tuition is due in May 2015.

Twice a year Half of the year's tuition is due in May 2015 and the other half in January 2016.

Quarterly Payment of the year’s tuition in four equal installments due May 2015, August 2015, November 2015 and February 2016.

Monthly (11 payments) Payment of the year’s tuition in eleven equal installments due on the 1st or 15th of each month May 2015 through March 2016.

Tuition is paid to FACTS TUITION MANAGEMENT and may be paid according to any of the following plans. Please understand that the school is not in a position to carry delinquent tuition accounts. Payments received after the due dates are subject to a $25 late payment charge and the family's enrollment in the school may be suspended until the balance is paid. Some school reports, parent conferences, recommendations, and/or involvement in activities may be withheld, delayed or denied for any student whose family has not fulfilled its financial obligation to the school. At the end of each quarter, any family not-having-fulfilled all of its obligations to the school may be dropped from the registered list. In the case of early withdrawal from school, for any reason, families may receive a refund for tuition paid in advance. Tuition refunds on over-paid accounts will be computed on a per day basis from the date we receive written notification of the transfer and/or the last date of attendance (whichever is later) plus 25 school days counted from the last day of attendance. $55 APPLICATION FEE - New Applicants This non-refundable fee is charged before an application is processed, that is, before the decision to accept a student into the school is made. $425 REGISTRATION FEE - New Students $425 per child for all new students. No student is enrolled nor is space saved until this fee is paid and all the required forms are submitted by the deadlines specified. This fee helps cover the following: the purchase of textbooks and workbooks, materials for the classroom, Department of Catholic Schools assessment, student accident insurance, Catholic Telemedia Network, PowerSchool, and IOWA testing fees. This fee is not refundable under any circumstances. $100 KINDERGARTEN FEE – Kindergarten students only This non-refundable fee is paid at registration time for each kindergarten student enrolled. This fee is charged in recognition of the fact that our full day kindergarten program is the most costly program run by the school i.e. most of the materials are consumable and need to be replaced regularly. pg. 1

$375 RE-REGISTRATION FEE - Returning Students The re-registration fee for returning K-7 students is a per child fee of $375. Those re-registering after the school’s stated deadline will pay a re-registration fee of $500 per child. No seats are saved nor is space reserved for students when established deadlines for submission of forms and/or fees are not met. This fee is not refundable under any circumstances. $350 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT/GYMNASIUM MAINTENANCE FEE - All Families The Parents' Club established this fee. This fee supports the maintenance of the new classroom additions and the gymnasium. This fee may be paid in installments or in one payment as you wish. It must be paid in full by December 15th, 2015. This fee is not refundable under any circumstances. FALL FUNDRAISER – All Families All families are required to participate in the Fall Fundraiser that will include selling some of the following: candy or cookie dough, gift-wrap and/or gift catalog. Each family is to sell a minimum of $100 worth of product per child enrolled in the school. Families who choose not to participate may pay a buyout fee of $150 per child at that time. SPRING SPELL-A-THON FUNDRAISER – All Families All K-8 students will participate in the Spring Spell-A-Thon. I understand that there will be a pledge of at least $30 per child for the Spell-A-Thon. SCRIP PURCHASE REQUIREMENT – All Families The scrip program provides needed income for the school to keep tuition increases to a minimum. All families are required to generate a minimum of $100 profit by participating in the electronic scrip programs authorized by the school. Scrip purchased between May 1st, 2015 and April 30th, 2016 will be credited to this requirement. Families who do not wish to participate or do not reach the minimum requirement of $100 profit will need to use a combination of scrip profit and cash/check for a total of $150. The buy out fee is due no later than May 6th, 2016. $40 PARENTS’ CLUB DUES – PARENT PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT – All Families Each family is required to join ($40 per family per year) and to co-operate with the Parents’ Club fulfilling their Parent Participation Requirements. The school works in co-operation with the Club's leadership in the decision-making, implementation and enforcement of their policies. Dues are payable no later than August 28th, 2015, and are nonrefundable. PARENT PARTICIPATION HOURS – All Families We understand that during the 2015-2016 school year, all families are required to volunteer for a minimum of 12 hours for school activities. Failure to complete all 12 parent participation hours as assigned the Parents’ Club and/or the St. Thomas More School administration will result in a $450 fee to be paid before a child’s seat can be saved for the following school year. CAPITAL CAMPAIGN PHASE 2 – All Families Every family is required to respond to the Capital Campaign Phase 2 Pledge. There is no specific, required contribution. What is required is a prompt response to the pledge solicitation. The level of response from all school families to the Campaign is reviewed annually when the schedule of tuition rates and fees is set for the coming school year.
