Share-the-Fun Share the Fun is the name of the 4-H Talent Show. Any Greene County youth between the ages of 9 and 19 is invited to participate in this fun event. Participants are judged for talent, showmanship, and creativity. All participants must enroll or be enrolled in 4-H. Every 4H member who participates will receive a white, red, or blue ribbon, depending on the quality of the performance. The highest scoring act in the junior and intermediate age divisions will receive a scholarship to 4-H Camp (a value of $215). In the case of a tie, the prize will be divided equally among the members of each group. The two highest scoring acts in each category for each age division will be eligible to compete in the District Competitions in Staunton in April. Senior acts may apply to attend the state competitions at Virginia Tech. Acts must be age appropriate and in good taste - appropriate for family viewing (Grated). Adult volunteers and Extension Office employees have the right to refuse songs or routines that may be offensive or inappropriate. Acts may have one to four members and must be entered in one of the six categories listed below: VOCAL--singing with or without an accompanist. This includes both solo acts and groups up to four people. Accompanying music should be strictly instrumental or karaoke style--do not "sing along" with another artist. INSTRUMENTAL--piano, guitar, band instruments, etc. Only the instrumental presentation will be judged. Please contact Kathy Alstat if you are in need of a piano for your act. DANCE--ballet, tap, interpretive, modern, jazz, acrobatic, folk, clogging, hip-hop DRAMA--play or scene from a play, monolog, poetry recitation, mime VARIETY--magic acts, stand-up comics, puppetry, impressionists, ventriloquism, clowning, juggling, circus acts, tumbling/gymnastics, step, lip sync, bird calls, karate/martial arts demonstrations COMBINATION--Two or more of any of the above categories--singing and dancing, singing and playing an instrument, singing and acting, etc. Participants are judged on all aspects of act.

If you are in need of a piano for your act, please contact Kathy Alstat as soon as possible to discuss options. We do not have a piano available at the Extension Office, and we will need to make arrangements with WMHS for the judging and performance.

The act can be no longer than 4 minutes. Microphones, will be provided for the performers' use upon request. Costumes, props, music and all other supplies must be brought by the performer. Participating in Share-the-Fun helps build self confidence and poise. Fun is the key word! All performers must try out and attend at least one practice as well as attend the judging on JANUARY 20 and the final performance on JANUARY 21.
