In Deutschland trat als Reaktion auf den Modernisierungsdruck am 29. Mai 2009 das Bilanzrechtsmodernisierungsgesetz (BilMoG) in Kraft. Primäres Anliegen des Gesetzgebers war es, die handelsrechtliche Rechnungslegung zu einer gleichwertigen Alternative zu den IFRS auszubauen.
