www.stemfamilyfunnight.com/stem-showcase Dear Teacher, I am interested in submitting a project for the Student STEM Showcase at the STEM Family Fun Night which is taking place on Thursday, May 25th from 4-8 pm at the New York Hall of Science. Schools in Districts 24, 25, 26 and 30 in Queens will present exceptional student work in STEM. I would like to apply and would like your support and a recommendation. Projects that are selected will be on display for visitors, including STEM experts, to review and speak with the student presenters. Experts may speak to students about the process involved in designing and creating their projects. You will be receiving a link to complete a quick recommendation form after I complete the registration. Please look for an email from
[email protected]. P lease provide me with your DOE email so I can include it with my registration. Teacher recommendations must be complete by Monday, May 1st. Notification emails will be sent the week of May 8th. Here is the information I received in order to have the best possibility to be accepted into the STEM Showcase. This criteria, along with your recommendation, will determine my acceptance. ❏ I presented my STEM project to my class or school. ❏ My project focuses on real world problem solving. ❏ My project has least 3 of the STEM components. I used these STEM components: ❏ Science ❏ Technology ❏ Engineering ❏ Math ❏ I used elements of the engineering design process ❏ I can explain and answer questions about my project. I can explain how I used the engineering design process and how my project can be applied in the real world. Please note that additional criteria may be used during the selection process. There will be a total of 100 students accepted as STEM Showcase students so please note that each project will be carefully reviewed for consideration.
