ASB Results Released
ASB/Council Behavior and Social Media Contract 2018-2019 The staff and students at University High School have high expectations that, as a member of the Associate Student Body or class council, I will represent our school community in a dignified and thoughtful manner. I understand that I will be expected to present my best self at school events, supporting our Trojans, not disparaging opponents and always behaving in a way that includes, not excludes members of the UHS community. I understand that my behavior and the use of social media area means of serving the community to: Publicize specific and accurate event information Collect feedback from students and staff regarding ASB and Council performance Energize those who see what is published/posted about school-wide events of all kinds, not just those in which I am particularly interested. Express appreciation and support for peers, parents, staff and other members of the community. Coordinate work between and among members of ABS/Council and smaller teams with tasks to accomplish. Demonstrate the organization’s commitment to the Trojan Pillars of Character: Integrity, Compassion, Responsibility and Respect.
This contract requires student commitment to uphold the highest standard of on-site and online behavior and to protect the reputation of the organization and the UHS school community in the use of all forms of behavior and social media - both school-managed sites/accounts, as well as personal sites and accounts. At no time will I: Use profane, obscene or vulgar language at school events or in original or re-tweeted text. “Like” posts or images that are profane, obscene or vulgar. Use social media to insult, offend or antagonize opponents in sports or school-wide competitions. Become overly-dependent on social media, neglecting other forms of communication and publicity. Promote directly or indirectly behaviors that violate the Trojan Code of Conduct. Mis-represent the goals and values of the organization. Use any means of digital communication impulsively or thoughtlessly.
My signature below indicates that I understand this information and recognize that consequences for infraction may include removal from office and/or suspension. I understand that I am held to a higher standard because of my position in school leadership. I acknowledge that I publically represent University High School in a way other students do not. I know that, once something is posted through social media, it can never be truly “private,” and most importantly, I understand that school-sponsored events and online social networking sites are not places where I can say and do as I please without repercussions. I choose to protect myself and the students and school I serve by maintaining a public and digital self-image that I will be proud of for years to come.
