Research Technician - Spring Barley Breeding National Recruited Staff

Reports to: Senior Barley Breeder Location: Marchouch, Morocco

Main purpose of the position Providing support for research activities of spring barley breeding at Marchouch and other research stations.

Main responsibilities       

Assist in preparing of field plans, land preparation, sowing, harvesting, threshing of trials, breeding material and nurseries. Preparing seed materials for various nurseries for planting at research stations in Morocco and other countries. Undertake input and irrigation activities. Assist in collecting, managing and summarizing data. Supervise daily workers. Undertake the crossing program. Perform any other job assigned as per requirement of spring barley breeding program.

Education, qualifications and experience      

Diploma in agriculture or 3 years of experience in breeding/ research program after 12th Standard Demonstrated ability in field research Good experience in field research management Demonstrated knowledge and experience in data recording Ability to work in a team Good command of spoken and written Arabic and English

Terms of appointment, salary and benefits The initial contract will be for 1 year which will also be a probationary period. Subsequent employment is decided based on the merit and productivity of the staff member, and continued need for the position.
