View archives The Board approved proposed changes to Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) school start times contained in the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) report, dated January 15, 2015 “Bell Time Review,” and the “Bell Time Review Addendum” dated January 22, 2015 . School bell time changes come into effect September 2015. The Addendum removes Immaculata High School from the Bell Time Review process leaving its bell time at 8:20 a.m. At the January 27 Board meeting, the Ottawa Catholic School Board of Trustees voted to remove St. Marguerite d’Youville School from the Bell Time Review process leaving its bell time at 8.25 a.m. OSTA has done extensive public and stakeholder consultation on the Bell Time Review process. OCSB trustees and public board trustees are members of the OSTA Board. Full details are available on pages 2633 of the January 27, 2015 Board Agenda.

Fred Chrystal, Superintendent of Planning and Facilities and Simone Oliver, Superintendent of Student Success (Elementary) updated the Board on PreSchool Programs at the Ottawa Catholic School Board. In 2012, the Board received a $1.87 million allocation from the Ministry of Education to convert space once needed for halfday child care space for Kindergarten students who were in school the other half of the day. Now Kindergarten students are in school fulltime. With completion of a large renovation project, 328 new spaces for children 2.5 years to 3.8 years have been created. Preschool programs will now be offered by the Ottawa Catholic Child Care Corporation at the following schools: Holy Trinity High School, Our Lady of Peace, St. Andrew, St. Emily, St. Francis of Assisi, St. George, St. James, St. Jerome, St. Stephen, and St. Theresa.
