1. The Bureau of Curriculum Development (BCD), in partnership with the .Confucius Institute at the Angeles University Foundation (CI-AUF), has been implementing the Special Program in Foreign Language (SPfL) - Chinese Mandarin since 2011. To date, there are 72 schools from eight regions: Regions I, Ill, IV-B, V, Vll, IX, XI and NCR offering the program with 178 trained teachers. 2. To develop the capacity of teachers in teaching the Chinese Mandarin language and culture, Summer Training Courses for the teachers of Batch 6 & 7 shall be conducted on April 19 - May 19, 2017 at the CI-AUF. 3. Travel expenses and per diems shall be charged against HRTD funds, subject to the usual auditing and accounting rules and regulations. 4. Participants are required to attend and complete at least 80% of the training hours. Likewise, participants who are in this training are exempted from attending the Brigada Eskuwela. 5. In recognition of the efforts and support of the teachers in implementing SPFL Chinese-Mandarin in their schools, they are eligible to avail of service credits commensurate to the number of hours/days they will attend trainings/seminars during the summer, weekends, and holidays, exclusive of the allowable 15 days for every

.• year pursuant to DepEd Order No. 53, s. 2003 entitled Updated Guidelines on Grant of Vacation Setvice Credits to Teachers for their participation in SPFL Chinese-
Mandarin activities, provided that they have obtained prior authority to attend the training duly approved by their respective Schools Heads/Principals and Schools Division Superintendents. 6. The field is hereby being reminded of the important provisions contained in Executive Order No. 367, s. 1989, which was also reiterated in DepEd Order No. 68, s. 2009 (Scholarship and Training Grant! Fellowship Pool). Among others, it states that: •

After availing ofthe study grant, the scholar shall serve DepEd for 2 years for every year of study or a fraction thereof not less than 6 months; 1 year for a fraction of a year less than 6 months but not less than 2 months of study, and 6 months for a fraction of a year less than 2 months as stated in Executive Order 367 dates August 21, 1989; The grantee shall sign a Scholarship Service Contract (see attachment) to this effect witnessed by the School Head as guarantor.
