It’s GUMDALE GRANDSLIDERS 28th BIRTHDAY: Come and help us celebrate with a great night of fun and dancing June 10th, 2015 At Alexandra Hills Community Hall cnr Windemere and Finucane Roads Alexandra Hills. At 7.30 pm $7 entry Raffles and Lucky Door Prizes A plate for supper is appreciated. Hervey Bay Square Dance Club Hi Everyone, There is little to report for this month. Our learning class is progressing well on Saturday mornings. A big thanks to our angels who turn up regularly to help out. We put a Mainstream dance on as the last bracket and the 'newies' think it is hilarious if we make a mistake and have to resort to a rewind. Five from our club travelled to Adelaide for the wonderful National Convention. All cuers and callers need to be congratulated for putting on such a great 3 afternoons and 5 nights of continuous dancing. The ten callers and cuers from Queensland did us proud. It's great we have a contingent of callers prepared to travel so far and give of their time to entertain us dancers. Thank you. Graham and Dawn Elliot had us all at their Cabaret on Monday night. What a great ending to another fabulous Convention. If you have never been to a National Convention, I recommend next year at Buderim as you won't get it any closer than right here in Queensland. I hope all the dancers who did extra travelling after the convention enjoyed their time in S.A. Yours truly, after 4 days on Kangaroo Island, ended up in Darwin courtesy of the Ghan. It was a thoroughly enjoyable trip. Now home to the real world - By the time you read this, we will have danced to Andrew Reid on Saturday 2nd May and then we are holding a Soup and Sweets night on 6th June starting at 6 p.m. Eats, socializing in a relaxed way and playing "silly" games. What more could we want. Please join with us if you are travelling in the area. Phone Glenda 41253305. Best wishes to all and bye for now. PLEASE SUBMIT ALL CONTRIBUTIONS BY 25th OF EACH MONTH.

Rambling Eights, Salisbury - Caller: David Pearce It seems that the month of March was extremely full on, with a “lucky for some” dance on Friday 13th, followed by a sea of Irish green the following week for our celebration of St Patrick’s Day. The end of the month saw some attending the AGM meeting and dance, with a wonderful dinner catered for by Gumdale dancers. With the start of April, some were getting ready to head off to Adelaide for the National Convention, while Kim and Terry Albury were preparing for the wedding of their first born son, Daniel to his beautiful fiance, Katrina. The wedding went off a treat, the bride was a picture, and all the visiting family who were very welcome, have finally gone home. No doubt we will all get to see the pictures soon. With the club closed for Easter, and dancers with other commitments being away, April started off as a rather quiet month, but it wasn’t long till most were back, and we again had four sets on the floor enjoying the slightly cooler nights. Those who returned from the National had glowing reports of the fun dancing and socializing with distant friends, as well as the enjoyment of sightseeing. May will start off with our first of the hot suppers for the cooler nights, with the pizza orders in, and fresh fruit to follow. Our club congratulates two couples who have added to their count of grandchildren this month – a granddaughter for Leanne and Jim, and a grandson for Christine and Kevin. STEPPING OUT WITH CLOGGING Since last we sat down to read the monthly BUGLE news, Club attendances across the Sunshine State have been very satisfactory, with experienced Cloggers being most welcoming to new comers to our popular activity. Vale - Reg Hendy At the end of April we received the news that a past Caller, Reg Hendy had passed away. A local identity in Warwick and a true larrikin, Reg called for many years at his club called Rose City Wranglers. Reg and his club hosted the Warwick Roundup in 1985 and also the 1986 Qld State Convention along with a couple of other big dances. Reg always had a smile on his face and really enjoyed working with people. His talents also extended to Bush Dancing and was he was kept very busy with many booking for party nights. Each year, in February, Reg hosted a Square Dance camp at Lesley Dam, Warwick. Exclusive because of the numbers that the camp site could hold, these weekends always had booking waiting lists because they were so much fun - full of dancing, activities, fellowship and entertainment. Rest in Peace Reg ~ thank-you for your contribution to Square Dancing in Queensland. PLEASE SUBMIT ALL CONTRIBUTIONS BY 25th OF EACH MONTH.

Cairns City Square Dance Club The Club was able to have a good night’s dancing this week after a recess of 2 weeks because of the Good Friday Holiday and too many members being away. Our members are coming and going on holidays at the moment and this effects our nights as are membership is not high. Ron and Beryl Moon have just returned from a trip to Japan and from what they have told us they had a wonderful time. Our Monday Plus nights will resume next month as will the beginners Plus tuition. Our visitors this month was Vivian and Eden from Sid Leighton’s Square Dance Club in Brisbane and we all enjoyed meeting and dancing with them. Long time members Hilda and Tom called in for a chat during our Friday dancing night. It was good to catch up with them as Tom has been unwell. This is all our news for this month. Janet Hansen

- Publicity Officer

Taigum Twirlers Dancers from Taigum have been kept very busy over the last few weeks. We have had a special Easter dance and pot-luck dinner, complete with lots of puzzles, games and prizes. On Anzac Day we held a special tribute dance with Lynette & Sid calling tunes from the War years. Our afternoon Round Dancing class is coming along nicely with all couples enjoying the learning experience. We have now introduced an evening Round Dance session from 6.15 to 7.00 with upwards of 8 couples attending that as well. We have also merged our two afternoon Beginners Sessions into one and everyone is having a fantastic time learning together and socializing.

Cane Country Squares We hope you all enjoyed your Easter Break. As our Club dances Friday there was no club night on Easter Friday for us. Our learners are all enjoying the square dance classes with much help from last year's learners helping as angels, and reinforcing their movements at the same time. It was good to have three sets dancing again recently. Pam Garson PLEASE SUBMIT ALL CONTRIBUTIONS BY 25th OF EACH MONTH.

Suncoasters Square Dance Club A good group of Suncoasters had a great time at our Chicken Wing Ding Pyjama Party and Sleepover in March which was followed by a yummy breakfast cooked by Nev. The next big event was the National Convention in Adelaide which was attended by quite a few Suncoasters and we had a terrific time. The variety of callers was immense and very enjoyable. There were visitors from many other countries and they loved the experience as well. Some of us stayed on for a few days of touring and then came home rather worn out. Our next big event is Suncoasters 45th Birthday Cabaret on 16 May, 2015 and the theme is “Red and Black”. We invite other lovely dancers from other clubs to enjoy us for a fun night.
