SNELL & WILMER ELECTS NEW PARTNERS AND COUNSEL PHOENIX (December 19, 2016) – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce 10 attorneys have been elected to join the firm’s partnership, effective January 1, 2017. In addition, five attorneys were elected to counsel. Snell & Wilmer’s newly elected partners are: 

Sara J. Agne concentrates her practice in political law, government relations, and healthcare matters, including litigation, compliance and regulatory issues, federal and state legislative matters, and professional liability defense. Agne has litigated short-fuse election law and constitutional issues before Arizona and federal courts at all levels. Her experience includes appellate matters, election law and constitutional litigation, political compliance matters, statutory and rule-drafting issues, media law, pro bono immigration appeals, licensure board matters, utility and environmental matters, criminal defense, public records and subpoena issues, as well as witness representation. She earned her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.

Cortland P. Andrews represents clients in the formation and structuring of their businesses, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, private equity and venture capital transactions, regulatory compliance, securities regulation, joint ventures, partnerships, corporate governance efforts and other general business matters. In addition, he regularly assists and advises clients in connection with the ongoing operation of their businesses, including the negotiation, preparation and management of contracts, guidance concerning institutional, state and federal regulatory compliance, and the implementation Cort Andrews of day-to-day operational tools and processes. Andrews’ clients include both public and private companies across a broad range of industries, including technology, medical devices and services, oil and gas, renewable energy, natural resources, agriculture and consumer lending. He earned his J.D. from Brigham Young University, J. Reuben Clark Law School and his LL.M. in taxation from the University of Florida.



Christopher P. Colyer assists clients with transactional and litigation issues in the areas of environmental, real estate, construction and administrative law. His environmental practice includes advising clients on complex environmental issues associated with real estate and corporate transactions and representing clients in federal, state and local permitting and litigation matters, including air quality, hazardous waste, water quality, underground storage tank and Superfund compliance. Colyer’s real estate and administrative law practice includes representing large and medium-sized companies with municipal Chris Colyer zoning approvals and appeals, liquor licensing and advising clients on real estate, leasing and state and local governmental permitting issues. He also focuses on renewable energy regulation and development, including contracting, leasing and permitting of solar and wind energy facilities on public, private and tribal lands. His construction practice includes negotiating and drafting construction contracts and representing owners and contractors in construction defect litigation. Colyer earned his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law.



Kelly H. Dove focuses her practice on commercial and appellate litigation, where she has been counsel to companies and individuals in more than 100 state and federal appeals and writ proceedings involving business torts, product liability, contracts and various business and commercial issues. Dove had the privilege of serving as part of the legal team with Lambda Legal and O’Melveny & Myers, LLP, as pro bono counsel for the Plaintiff couples in Nevada’s marriage equality case, Sevcik v. Sandoval, which resulted in the legalization of same sex marriage throughout the Ninth Circuit in 2014. Before Kelly Dove joining the firm, she clerked for the Honorable Philip M. Pro in the United States Court for the District of Nevada and the Honorable Jay S. Bybee in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She earned her J.D. from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law.



Brent W. Nelson concentrates on estate and tax planning for individuals and businesses. He helps individuals develop estate plans in a wide variety of circumstances, from simple plans to complex plans for high-net-worth individuals and families. He assists clients with international estate and tax matters, including reporting compliance with the Internal Revenue Service. Nelson also assists clients with probate and trust administration matters. His practice includes helping businesses plan from start to finish, including formation, operation, merger and acquisition, and termination. He also helps Brent Nelson business owners develop business succession plans and advises clients on tax compliance and audits with the Internal Revenue Service. Nelson earned his J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law and his LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.



Robin E. Perkins concentrates her practice in business and commercial litigation, with an emphasis in financial services litigation and construction litigation. She represents financial institutions in disputes involving federal and state consumer protection statutes, common law contract and tort claims, and lender liability with respect to mortgage lending, foreclosures, and various other types of lending and credit issues. Specifically, Perkins actively defends financial institutions in claims involving fraud, bad faith lending, common law contracts and torts, Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Credit Reporting Act Robin Perkins (FCRA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and Home Ownership Equity Protection Act (HOEPA). She pursues and defends claims on behalf of owners and contractors in mechanic’s lien actions, lien priority disputes, delay and impact claims, breach of contract and lease, unjust enrichment and other actions seeking damages, extraordinary relief, injunctive relief, and other remedies in state and federal litigation, arbitration and mediation. Perkins earned her J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law.



Byron Sarhangian concentrates his practice in real estate and business transactions which include purchase and sale transactions, leasing, financing and brokerage matters. He advises large and small corporate clients in corporate real estate matters throughout the United States. His practice also involves drafting and negotiating construction agreements for owners, lenders, general contractors and subcontractors. He has worked on property exchange agreements between state entities as well as a variety of zoning and permitting matters. Sarhangian’s work includes ground leases and finance Byron Sarhangian agreements on Native American lands, and he is actively involved in the Urban Land Institute both locally and nationally. He earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.







Paul W. Shakespear focuses his practice in commercial litigation, energy and utility law and defending clients in product liability and medical malpractice matters. His commercial litigation experience includes real estate and title insurance disputes, business membership cases and contract matters. He has represented his energy and utility clients in land use and regulatory matters. His product liability defense focuses on defending automotive and medical device manufacturers. Shakespear earned his J.D. from Brigham Young University, J. Reuben Clark Law School. Jeffrey M. Singletary concentrates his practice on business litigation in state and federal courts. He represents clients in matters involving breach of contract, business competition torts, real estate, public and private construction projects, and various intellectual property litigation matters, including trademark, trade dress, trade secret and patent claims. He earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law. Jeremy J. Stewart concentrates his practice in commercial litigation. He represents clients in complex antitrust and securities litigation, professional liability litigation, contract disputes, regulatory enforcement actions and general business litigation. His commercial litigation experience includes all stages of litigation, from pre-litigation dispute resolution through appeal. He has extensive experience representing clients before state and federal courts, in local and international arbitrations, in mediations, and before numerous regulatory agencies. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.

Jim P. Allen focuses his practice on regulatory issues surrounding development of natural resources, including water, mining, oil and gas, wildlife, and public lands. He assists clients with all phases of the administrative process, including permit applications, conferences, hearings, appeals and litigation. Allen’s background as an engineer permits him to interact effectively with state and federal regulators on a variety of technical issues. His practice includes advising clients on water rights, mining, oil and gas development and land use issues. He currently serves on the board of directors of Ballet Tucson. Allen earned his J.D. from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law.

Walker F. Crowson has a diverse litigation practice representing clients in employment, business and commercial litigation. His employment practice involves representation of clients in all aspects of labor and employment law, including federal and state anti-discrimination laws, sexual harassment, retaliation, FLSA/wage and hour, FMLA, unemployment claims, defamation, negligence, restrictive covenants and breach of contract claims. Crowson also mediates and arbitrates employment cases, serving as an arbitrator both in private, ad hoc arbitrations as well as for the American Arbitration Association Walker Crowson in employment cases. His business and commercial practice includes serving as outside general counsel to small and medium sized businesses and advising them on a variety of day-to-day legal issues, including those involving insurance, contracts and entity formation among others. He earned his J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law, is licensed to practice law in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, and is Board Certified in Labor & Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.



Ian K. Douglas concentrates his practice in real estate. His experience includes representing clients in the sale and acquisition of businesses and real property, and representing landlords and tenants in commercial lease transactions throughout the United States, including leases for casinos, office buildings, warehouses, retail properties and restaurants. Ian has represented multi-family project owners, commercial property owners and national and regional restaurant chains in real estate and other matters as well as represented mining companies and school districts in the acquisition and Ian Douglas disposition of real and personal property. In addition to his real estate practice, Ian has represented both borrowers and institutional lenders in all aspects of secured loan transactions and real estate foreclosures, and represented debtors and creditors in bankruptcy proceedings. He earned his J.D. from Brigham Young University, J. Reuben Clark Law School.



Elisabeth M. McOmber concentrates her practice in product liability defense litigation and complex commercial litigation. She defends high-stakes product defect claims against leading manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, automobiles, watercraft and marine products, aircraft, and asbestoscontaining products. Her complex commercial litigation experience includes advising and defending insurance carriers on coverage issues and in claims for breach of contract and bad faith, defending companies in Limitation of Liability Act proceedings and defending construction defect cases. She also Elisabeth McOmber represents automotive manufacturers in motor vehicle franchise disputes addressing issues regarding statutory notice and buyback provisions, dealer sales and transfers of ownership, dealer succession and dealer terminations. Ms. McOmber earned her J.D. cum laude from Brooklyn Law School.



Robert Schwimmer focuses his practice in complex business litigation and state and local tax planning and controversies. Schwimmer has experience representing clients – both plaintiffs and defendants – in all stages of litigation, from administrative proceedings through trial and appeal in state and federal courts. He has served as counsel to financial institutions, large retailers, technology service providers, real estate companies and start-ups, among others, in a broad range of matters. He represents taxpayers in various state and local tax controversies, and assists clients with planning and compliance Robert Schwimmer matters with respect to numerous types of state and local taxes, including business activity taxes, sales and use taxes, gross receipts taxes, property taxes, and others. He also advises clients on the state and local tax consequences of various transactions. Schwimmer earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School.
