F&F Unit 3: Main Idea using Non-Fiction (Sept. 21st—Oct. 9th) On Monday, we will begin our third Foundations and Frameworks Unit, Unit 3: Main Idea– Non-Fiction. We will be using various articles and paragraphs from our Social Studies books. Students will need to be able to find the main idea, three supporting details, give one suggested detail, and write a paragraph. New pattern statements, process questions, visual tools, and vocabulary words are in your child’s binder. (You may also scan the QR code below to download this information.) It would greatly benefit your child to practice this information each night. Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions that you might have.
Open House will be this Thursday, September 24th. The doors will be open from 5:30 to 7:00. There will be a Hot Dog Dinner in the lunchroom. The cost will be $5.00. Classrooms and the Book Fair will be open from 5:30-7:00. Please make plans to come and visit your child’s classroom , shop the book fair, and enjoy dinner. We hope to see you here! Mystery Book Reports are due October 9th. Please make sure your child is working on this a little each week. Additional copies of the sheets can be found on the website. Students will briefly present their folders to the class and tell about their book. Good Luck, detectives !
Goodie Day is every Friday. All snacks are $1.00. Please keep sending in those Box Tops. The Box Top Challenge ends Sept. 30th. We are still collecting aluminum cans to cash in for money towards the new projects. You may drop your cans in the receptacle near the outdoor classroom. Spread the word and have your friends and coworkers collect cans for Eden.
Another way to help Eden earn money is to use the Shoparoo app. All you have to do is download that app on your smart phone or device and take pictures of your receipts from any store. It is that easy! Be sure to use your PUBLIX Partners card each time you shop at Publix. Eden earns money from each use. If you need more cards for friends and family, let your child’s teacher know.
Show Off your Fall Frenzy Shirt and Win MONEY for EDEN! If you purchased a Fall Frenzy shirt, be sure to snap a picture of you or your child wearing it. Post the picture on Facebook or Instagram with the following message: “Eden is going to Fall Frenzy2015 at Pell City Lakeside Park. #fallfrenzy2015” Every time you post, repost or share, Eden will be entered to win $500. The school with the most shares and reposts wins. The BODYQUEST program, taught by the St. Clair County Extension Office, will be taught in our school during May. Permission Forms to participate were sent home last week. You do not have to agree to all of the requests, but students will need permission to take part in the iPad nutrition program. The forms are due by October 1st.

Parents, Several has expressed the length of time that it takes to complete homework. Please know that we only assign what we feel our students need in order to keep up in class. We give you the homework ahead of time so you may adjust the schedule according to your family routine. Please do not spend more than one hour for homework each night. Many students have opportunities to work on homework during bus call. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We are happy to help. :-) List 8 Spelling Words for the week of Sept. 28th -Oct. 1st. Test October 1st Compound Words
