Humanities Newsletter A Sincere Senior Farewell This year in Humanities has been filled with learning and laughs, but all good things come to an end. Each June, the entire school feels bittersweet as we send our seniors off to do great things. In the Humanities forum, this feeling is heightened given the sense of family this program facilitates.
one in the class of 2017 worked hard to get accepted into the colleges of their choice and many even received scholarship and grant money! This issue shows some of the moments the seniors had during their last days at Monacan, such as college t-shirt day and the banquet.
Seniors in the center spent their last few days at Monacan doing great things from being recognized at the school-wide Senior Awards Ceremony to presenting the documentaries they worked on all year. They attended Senior Banquets both for the school as a whole and a smaller ceremony that only included Humanities students and teachers. Many of the seniors are headed to college in the fall, scattering all over the country as they move on to their next great adventure. Every-
As sad as we all are to see our seniors walk the stage, everyone is happy knowing they are off to do amazing things, no matter where they end up. Humanities has taught them all great things and the center is sending them out into the world prepared for whatever they want to do in life! We will miss all of our seniors and we wish them the best in all endeavors! The forum will always be a home to humanities alumni.
Ta-Ta, Ms. Tilton! This June is filled with extra sadness as we say goodbye to our founding coordinator, Ms. Tilton. A fixture in the forum after school each day, Ms. Tilton is so beloved by every Humanities student who is lucky enough to know her. She is such a supportive figure and has been present for every mile-
stone, from field trips to the carwashes to senior banquets. She is always willing to sit and talk with students about anything from school scheduling to how their summers went. As she retires, the entire program sends her love in the form of surprise parties, cards and gifts. We
are all so appreciative of everything she does for the students and the program as a whole. We hope her days are spent in art museums and relaxing after her hard work throughout the years. From the bottom of everyone’s hearts, we love you, Ms. Tilton, and appreciate everything you’ve done!
