Senior Advisor Strategic Risk Management (x1) Circular 002 2018: Ref 003 Division – Enterprise Risk Management Reporting to – Manager Enterprise Risk Management Purpose The primary objective of this position is to be accountable for the management, implementation and maintenance of Integrated Risk Management strategies, implementation plans and procedures necessary at an Enterprise level within City Power. Key responsibilities
Facilitation and conducting risk assessments at all levels in the organisation Ensure that there are processes in place to track the progress of remedial actions underway for control improvements. Assist in developing the City Power Risk Management Plan Develop guidelines related to ERM for groups and where necessary revise existing documents Assisting groups and respective business units to implement required strategies, plans, framework to manage and mitigate risks Deliver value-adding risk assessments and advice to strategic/other change projects and new products to ensure changes to the business risk profile are properly quantified and mitigated/managed within agreed risk appetite. Assist in defining the risk quality criteria and checklist to ensure quality risk information and the updating of the risk information in the risk management system Participate in the development of City Power’s risk appetite and tolerance Assist the Enterprise Risk Manager to develop a risk aggregation model to ensure a bottom up risk assessment Ensure follow up sessions or meetings with risk or control owners and tracking actions progress to keep the risk register with up to date information Analyse the internal strengths and weaknesses within City Power to ensure the continuous development of improved ERM processes and corrective measures (gap analysis) Assist the Enterprise Risk Manager to establish and co-ordinate ERM working committee in City Power Prepare enterprise risk management reports for the submission to the directors and different committees

Ensure ongoing co-ordination of functional risk management software training for City Power to ensure a dynamic risk integration strategy within different groups Ensure that a relevant communication plan is in place and executed to continuous awareness Attend Enterprise Risk Management meetings as mandated by the ERM manager Scheduling the enterprise risk management training to ensure effective risk management capability within different groups Support to Senior Management on processes to measure risk performance within their groups Manage deadlines with stakeholders for inputs into reports to the City of Joburg, EXCO and Board RAC committees Work with the insurance team to identify opportunities for Risk Finance options Conduct continued risk management related industry research and development Remain up to date with any industry related changes in order to alert stakeholders timeously
Competencies
Knowledge of the MFMA and Regulations ie. National Treasury and others Knowledge of the National Treasury Framework for Managing Program Performance Information Knowledge of the Risk Management Methodologies especially ISO31000 Knowledge of Corporate Governance principles and guidelines (King III Code) COSO ERM Framework Project management disciplines Relevant functional/technical knowledge (theory and experience) Knowledge of the laws and regulations, policies and procedures associated with the department being audited In Communication, report writing and presentation skills Planning and organisational skills Attention to detail Innovative and solution driven The ability to identify and evaluate risks Analytical and problem solving skills The ability to do research and do an in depth analysis of information The ability to coordinate and manage several assignments simultaneously Development of reports detailing relevant information with recommendations and rationale
Minimum qualifications
B Com/B Tech Degree in Risk Management, Internal audit or relevant field
Related Minimum Experience
Three (3) years’ experience within the Risk Management Field
