The objectives for this project are: §
To introduce Ms. Chauveau to a variety of journalism programs at US universities and other institutions to learn about their curriculum, instructional practices and organizational structure;
§
To familiarize Ms. Chauveau with journalists, editors and other professionals in the private and public media;
§
To provide opportunities to discuss the current state of US and international media, given the growing influence of new media technologies;
§
To provide a greater understanding of the US political system and leading actors;
§
To study the impact of U.S. media on the political process and how the media maintain their independence from government and politics;
§
To examine how the media portray ethnic and cultural diversity in American society;
§
To interact with media outlets that concentrate on particular ethnic or religious groups;
§
To enable Ms. Chauveau to experience American culture and society firsthand.

Professional Background:
As Executive Director of the Sciences Po School of Journalism, Agnes Chauveau has worked to develop partnerships with distinguished schools of journalism around the world and especially in the US. The school has established partnerships with 300 university schools of journalism worldwide. Sciences Po (Institute of Political Sciences), one of the most prestigious academic institutions in France, established the School of Journalism in 2004. In 2005, in partnership with the Wall Street Journal, the school initiated the Daniel Pearl Award to be given in recognition of excellence in reporting by a Sciences Po journalism student. Ms. Chauveau would like to further enhance the school’s international profile and she wishes to learn more about American journalistic standards. During her U.S. visit, she is also interested in exchanging views on the current technology-driven transformation of journalism.
