Our Community Andover is a growing suburban community of over 30,000 residents located north of the Minneapolis‐ St. Paul metropolitan area. The citizens of Andover enjoy recreational opportunity, quiet neighborhoods, civic involvement and fiscal and environmental stewardship. Andover HS is one of five comprehensive high schools in the Anoka‐ Hennepin school district. The district also has six middle schools and twenty‐four elementary schools, as well as several alternative programs. Made up of 13 north-metro suburban communities, it is the largest district in Minnesota with a total enrollment of approximately 38,000 students.

Academics The curriculum at Andover HS provides rigorous coursework that develops a strong foundation for college and careers. Course offerings include courses of study for college bound students, as well as for students planning to enter technical colleges, the military or other employment. A variety of electives provide students with the opportunity to explore areas of interest. Honors, Advanced Placement and Dual Credit courses are offered in most academic disciplines. Students earn one half credit per course per trimester and 27 credits are required for graduation. Required classes include: 4 credits of English, 4 credits of Social Studies, 3 credits of Mathematics, 3 credits of Science, 1 credit in Physical Education, ½ credit in Health and 1 credit of Arts education. Andover HS students regularly compete at state level academic competitions in science, math, DECA and HOSA.

Fine Arts & Technical Education Andover HS boasts award winning programs in music, art, theatre, and technical education. Our music programs score at the highest level at region and state competitions, and our students are consistently selected for All-State band, choir and orchestra. Student artwork, photography, and woodworking projects are recognized as some of the best in the state and have won awards at the MN State Fair and displayed at the MN College of Art and Design. Our theatre productions are of the highest quality and have earned many Spotlight Awards from the Hennepin Theatre Trust. The video production program has been a leader in broadcast journalism and has been recognized for their work in broadcasting on local television stations. Our speech and debate programs are highly competitive and boast national qualifiers.

Athletics From the beginning, the Andover Huskies have been successful in many athletic endeavors. Offering opportunities for students to participate in 29 boys and girls varsity sports, we are a dominant force in the Northwest Suburban Conference. Our teams consistently compete in state tournaments and several of our athletes have competed as individuals at the state level since the school opened in 2002. Andover HS students also participate in adapted sports through the award winning District 11 Adapted Sports Teams.

Activities Andover HS offers over 50 different activities for students. These clubs and activities provide the opportunity for all students to provide service to their community and explore their interests and passions.

Highlights 2015 - 16 Academics: Recognized by US News & World Report as one of the top High Schools (#1140 in Nation and #24 in Minnesota); Speech Team earned second place in section; 8 students competed in State Speech Tournament; Student winner of Anoka County Library Teen Short Story Contest; 2 students competed at State Debate Tournament; 12 students competed at DECA state competition; 5 students competed at state HOSA competition; Student elected president of state HOSA organization; 79 seniors received over $73,000 in community scholarships. Fine & Visual Arts: 5 MMEA All‐State musicians; 10 ACDA 9-10 State Honor Choir members; Band, Choir and Orchestra received Superior Ratings at regional contest; 9 seniors showcased at Senior Art Show; several students recognized for exemplary photography & graphic design at MN State Fair; 2 Gold Key MN Scholastic Art Awards; One Act Play earned second place in Section; Spring Musical Production selected for 5 awards by Hennepin Theatre Trust. Athletics: The Football Team and Girls Nordic Ski Team were section champions & competed in State Tournaments; 23 Individual participants in State Athletic Tournaments; State Champion Wrestler: Boys Soccer and Trap& Skeet Team named Conference Champs. CI and PI adapted Soccer, Softball and Bowling teams competed at state tournaments; 7 Division I/II scholarship athletes. Student Life: 50 students spent a January night sleeping outside, and collected shoes, clothes and money to raise awareness about homeless youth in our district; National Honor Society sponsored a “Senior Prom” at local senior housing; Key club partnered with Kiwanis to help build dressers for those in need; Held a volleyball tournament and silent auction to raise money for 2 staff members’ whose houses burned down. hosted 54 college, career and military representatives at their annual college fair.
