SCHOOL DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY
The 117-square-mile Lee's Summit R-7 School District serves of the prime growth areas of the greater metropolitan Kansas City. Approximately 17,000 young people attend 18 elementary schools, three middle schools, and three high schools. Our district also operates and Early Childhood Center, a Parents As Teachers program, Summit Ridge Academy, and Summit Technology Academy.

ADVANCED STUDIES PROGRAM
Lee's Summit High School participates in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program. This rigorous program with a criterion-based international curriculum is designed to meet the highest standards required of any high school student. Lee's Summit High School is also a participant in the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Program. In addition, selected courses are offered for college credit through the University of Missouri-Kansas City, University of Central Missouri, and the Metropolitan Community Colleges. Students may choose any combination of these courses with the most rigorous being the IB Diploma.
POST-SECONDARY PROFILE
The exit survey of the graduating class of 2016 indicated approximately 57% plan to enter a four-year college or university, 24% plan to enter a two-year college, 3% plan vocational/technical training, 4% plan to work full-time, 3% plan to enter the military.

CLASS RANK/GRADE POINT AVERAGE AND GRADING SCALE
All grades are included in the grade point average that is computed on a traditional four-point system. Courses taken in the Advanced Studies program receive extra weight in the grading system. Ninth and tenth grade students enrolled in the Advanced Studies courses receive a weighted value of .50 on a 4.00 scale. Eleventh and twelfth grade students enrolled in IB/AP courses receive a weighted value of 1.00 on a 4.00 scale. Eleventh and twelfth grade students enrolled in dual credit or honors courses receive a weighted value of .666 on a 4.00 scale. The following grading scale is used: A AB+
= 95-100 = 90-94 = 87-89

For 2015-16 466 students participated in college admission testing by ACT. The mean English score was 20.5 mean Math score was 20.9, mean Reading score was 21.4, mean Science score was 21.3, and mean Composite was 21.2. One hundred fifty students took 346 tests in IB including 10 diploma candidates whose average diploma points were 32. Seventy-two students took 81 AP tests.
