History Morris County School of Technology, part of the Morris County Vocational School District, was established in 1969. Since then, the school has evolved into a four-year, full-time comprehensive career and technical high school with eight Academies located in Denville and two satellite Academies in Butler and Rockaway.
Mission Statement The mission of the Morris County Vocational School District is to provide vocational and enrichment programs that inspire and prepare students to succeed in today’s world and pursue tomorrow’s opportunities.
Accreditation The Morris County Vocational School District holds dual national accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Secondary Schools and The Council on Occupational Education.

County
Morris County is one of the ten wealthiest counties in the United States and has long been recognized as a prime setting for business and family. Morris County is located approximately 30 miles northwest of New York City, in the heart of northern New Jersey. Within 469 square miles of land area, the county contains 39 municipalities. The 13,000 acre county park system is noted statewide for its recreational facilities and preservation of Morris County’s natural landscape. The County is well served by a network of major interstate, state, county, and municipal roadways as well as bus, train and airport service.
Community
Denville is appropriately named the “Hub of Morris County”. Its 12 square miles are conveniently located near Routes 46, 80, 287, 10 and 53 providing easy access to the school by car and bus. The Denville train station is located two blocks from the school.
Full Time Academies The Academies of Morris County are individual magnet high schools that offer students with similar interests and aptitudes a challenging and exciting curriculum. Students take a collegepreparatory program that provides them with multiple options after graduation, including admission to colleges and universities or a career path to entry-level employment in some of the nations fastest growing industries.
Student Selection Applicants for full time academies are selected from a diverse population of eighth grade students throughout Morris County during the fall of their eighth grade year. Standardized test scores, attendance, grade point average, an entrance examination and teacher recommendations are considered.

Satellite Academies
Scheduling
MCST works on a block schedule with alternating A & B days. This allows for a maximum of five academic classes, physical education & health, two to four electives and career technical training annually.
Option II Eligible students may apply for Option II which permits the district Board of Education to determine curricular activities or programs aimed at achieving Core Curriculum Standards for promotion and gradation purposes. Option II serves as an alternative to traditional high school courses and involves in-depth experiences that may be provided by school district personnel or instructors not employed by the school district. Option II includes Independent Study online programs. Option II courses receive Pass/Fail (P/F) and are not calculated into the GPA.
Graduation Requirements
Students who desire an Academy Endorsed Diploma are required to obtain a minimum of 160 credits and meet all graduation requirements in accordance with New Jersey Administrative Code 6A:8-5.1. In addition, the class of 2015, must demonstrate proficiency on the New Jersey High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA) administered in the spring of the junior year and on End of Course Assessments as specified. Starting with the Class of 2016 students will participate in the PARCC Assessments.

Honors Courses
Honors Courses are available in specific courses: English, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science. These courses offer enrichment both in the scope of material presented and in depth exploration. All Honors & College courses are weighted and assigned one additional point.
Advanced Placement Courses MCST is proud to offer two Advanced Placement courses beginning with the 2014-2015 school year. Advanced Placement courses are currently offered in Calculus AB and Physics I.
Grade Point Average A cumulative grade point average (GPA) is maintained on all students beginning with the freshman year based on final grades in each course. A student’s transcript contains class rank as well as his/her grade point average (GPA). In calculating GPA, the converted quality points are multiplied by the number of credits assigned to the course. The resultant course quality points are totaled and divided by the total credits attempted by the student. Grading System Range

College & University Partners The Morris County Vocational School District has partnerships with colleges and universities. Students enrolled in Morris County School of Technology may earn college credit for coursework through articulations established with higher education partners. Students earn college credits from participating partner colleges and universities by completing high school courses as part of their high school program. These credits may be applied towards a degree program at a partner college or university or transferred to the student’s college or university of choice. Partner colleges include NJIT, Seton Hall, and Rutgers.
Academy Program and Grade Twelve Initiative Eligible students in Grade 12 may enroll in courses at the County College of Morris to earn college credits. Morris County School of Technology funds up to 22 college credits as part of the Grade Twelve Initiative, allowing eligible students to earn college credits while completing their high school requirements. Graduation requirements at the County College of Morris include English Composition I & II, Lifetime Wellness, Physical Education, two courses related to the Academy Program, and two additional courses of choice. Visual and Performing Arts Academy students may elect to take courses at Fairleigh Dickinson University or Ramapo College in addition to the County College of Morris.
