In the workshop, we present an investigation of the impact on hydrological regime by a full-dyke system developed for triple rice cropping in a flood prone area of the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. The effects, issues, and impacts of a full-dyke system on the surrounding hydrological environment were analysed based on remote sensing imagery and Mekong River water levels. An Giang province, adjacent to the Cambodian border, was selected from flood-prone rice areas of the Mekong Delta. The following changes have been clarified because of the expansion of full-dyke systems: 1) The water level at Can Tho station of Hau River, which is south-downstream of An Giang Province, has tended to rise in recent years. 2) A prolonged trend of flood duration has been observed

in Cambodia, which is upstream of An Giang, and in Kien Giang Province, which is west-downstream of An Giang. Key words: Mekong Delta, Flood-prone Area, Triple rice crop, Full-dyke
