Venue The Mela will be organised at RTP, NIRDPR, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad – 30. It is located around 18-22 KM from Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Kachiguda railway stations. Duration The Mela will be organised for 5 days from 24 – 28 November, 2016 between 10.00 am to 10.00 pm. Board & Lodging Board and lodging will be arranged by the NIRDPR from 23-29 November, 2016 at free of cost for two participants per stall. The accommodation will be on dormitory/sharing basis. However, the participants shall bring their own blankets and pillows. Travel & Luggage Expenses NIRDPR will not bare any expenses towards travel and luggage Events Along with the Mela it is proposed to organize: 1. Seminars / Workshop 2. Panel Discussion 3. Cultural events 4. Startup Conclave Stalls The stall size will be 10' x 10'. Each stall will be provided with one halogen lamp, two tables and two chairs. The participating organizations must make their own arrangements for display boards, etc.

The Rural Technology Park (RTP) at NIRD&PR is located in the most serene and pristine surroundings sprawling over 65 acres of land. Promotion of various rural entrepreneurs for their livelihoods and income generation activities is one of its objectives. The RTP is housing many small scale enterprise units like Vermicomposting, Natural dye, Handmade paper, Bio-pesticides, Solar energy, Wind energy, Apiculture, Food processing, Fashion Technology, Readymade Garments, Fashion Jewellary & Tribal Jewelry, Home based products, Soya Bean food products etc. In addition, RTP is having a National Rural Building Center (NRBC) showcasing different housing technologies including cost effective housing.
1. SELF EMPLOYMENT RELATED TECHNOLOGIES: Farm production technologies, agro-processing, packaging, organic farming practices, product manufacturing technologies, cold chain technologies, preservation & storage, artisan based technologies etc.
The RTP has been organising a Rural Technology and Crafts Mela since 2003 as a part of NIRD&PR Foundation Day Celebrations. During the previous years, hundreds of rural Innovators, artisans and SelfHelp Group members across the country participated by bringing an amazing array of products for displaying/sale. The varieties of products include handicrafts, handlooms, readymade garments, khadi and village industries products, medicinal and aromatic products, leather goods, toys, decorative items, processed food items, coir products, silk, wood carvings, brassware, fashion and tribal Jewelry etc. THE THEME OF THIS YEAR'S FOUNDATION DAY CELEBRATIONS IS 'SWACHHTA’
Along with Rural Crafts Mela, this year, NIRD&PR will initiate Rural Innovators' Startup Conclave, a small step in identifying a few appropriate and sustainable rural technologies that could be demonstrated as a single window display of training cum production by the technology partner themselves so as to motivate those who are interested in adopting these technologies as part of their livelihoods. The NIRD&PR by playing the faster (connector) shall enhance tie-up with appropriate institutions that can cater to the entrepreneurial aspiration of youth who have been mulling over innovative ideas and hopes of technology startups in sectors like Agriculture, Green Energy Technologies, Drinking Water and Health, Waste Management and other livelihood technologies. Aim The aim of the Mela is to showcase the different rural technologies which are developed by different organisations that are useful to the rural people to increase their productivity and their earnings.
2.WAGE EMPLOYMENT RELATED TECHNOLOGIES: Tool kits for earth works, improvised tools for women and persons with disability, temporary shed constructions, use of bio-metric machines etc. 3. INFRASTRUCTURE RELATED TECHNOLOGIES: Rural roads construction, rural housing, water treatment, sanitation, drinking water, solid & liquid management, water harvesting, Eco-san, different cost effective housing technologies, renewable energy development, irrigation technologies etc. 4. AREA DEVELOPMENT RELATED TECHNOLOGIES: Natural resource conservation, watershed development, ground water harvesting, green house technology, soil reclamation, pollution control technologies etc. Invitation: The organisations are encouraged to participate in the 14th Rural Technology and Crafts Mela 2016 along with their technologies, process, products, tools and implements for display, demonstration and sale.
