JOB DESCRIPTION Mission and Organization Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls (RnRC4G) builds girls' self-esteem through music creation and performance. Providing workshops and technical training, we create leadership opportunities, cultivate a supportive community of peers and mentors, and encourage social change and the development of life skills. Girls Rock Camp is RnRC4G’s primary program. At Girls Rock Camp, girls ages 8-17 form a band, write an original song, and perform it at a local music venue. In a supportive community of peers and mentors, Girls Rock Camp provides positive role models, hands-on experience, and access to technical and creative resources. Girls Rock Camp is designed to foster self-esteem and life skills development in every camper while having fun, creating music, and making friends. RnRC4G’s has a $230K budget, three full-time staff and five board members. The Opportunity As Executive Director of RnRC4G, you will lead a team of highly dedicated advocates of girls’ empowerment. Your exceptional leadership skills, nonprofit management experience, and fundraising skills will support the growth of RnRC4G into its next chapter. You will create and maintain financial stability for the organization, build and sustain strong relationships with foundations, corporations, and community members, and support the growth of the organization through programming. RESPONSIBILITIES Fundraising • Creates annual fundraising plan, maximizing both short-term and long-term fundraising streams for the organization. • Conducts high-level fundraising activities such as major gift solicitation from individuals, foundations and corporations, grant proposal development, and fundraising events. • Maintains donor database and coordinates contact with all donors. Organizational • Serves as lead ambassador for RnRC4G. • Oversees development of databases for volunteers, campers, and others. • Partners with staff to determine and fulfill programming needs. • Acts as liaison between Board of Directors and full-time staff. Financial • Develops and maintains sound financial practices. Manages day-to-day financial activities. • Creates and manages operational budgets. Community Outreach and Communications • Serves as RnRC4G’s primary spokesperson, promoting awareness of RnRC4G’s mission. • Inspires and motivates a wide range of individuals and organizations to support RnRC4G. • Seeks opportunities for strategic alliances and partnerships to further RnRC4G’s mission. • Refines and grows communications efforts—from web presence and social media to public relations and marketing— with the goal of maintaining a strong brand and elevating RnRC4G’s reputation. Experience, Knowledge and Skills Preferred The successful Executive Director is a team player who is able to support and motivate a widespread constituency including staff, board members, donors, volunteers and the broader community. The Executive Director brings the following personal and professional qualifications: • Five years of experience with increasing responsibility in nonprofit, public sector or social enterprise management, including a successful history of working effectively with boards and employees. • A proven track record in leadership, management, operations, budgeting, finances and administration. • Proven track record of success with major donor fundraising and the ability to successfully make asks of people, foundations and businesses. • Demonstrated experience working effectively with a Board of Directors, including experience developing board capacity in fundraising. • A reputation as an articulate and eloquent organizational spokesperson with strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Professional experience related to music, education, or youth. • Possesses a solid understanding of nonprofit accounting and how to analyze financial statements. • Proven ability to embrace and proficiently use technology. • A poised spokesperson with strong marketing and public relations experience with the ability to engage a variety of stakeholders. • Commitment to maintaining and growing quality programs and data-driven evaluation. • Takes an action-oriented, results-oriented, adaptable and innovative approach to business planning. BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION This full-time, exempt position located in Portland, OR reports to the Board of Directors of Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls. Benefits include: • Salary $48,000-$55,000 depending on experience • $250/month toward health benefits • 10 paid vacation days • Vacation: o 0-3 years = 120 hrs/year, accrued 10 hrs/month o 4-7 years = 144 hrs/year, accrued 12 hrs/month o 8-13 years = 176 hrs/year, accrued 14.6 hrs/month o 14+ years = 216 hrs/year, accrued 18 hrs/month girlsrockcamp.org
