Spring Concert - Wednesday, May 30 at 6:30 p.m. Please join us on Wednesday, May 30 to celebrate our musical learning at Rumney this year! Our spring concert will feature students from grades K-6. Students in grades K-4 will perform with their classes, followed by 5/6 ensembles. We are making several logistical changes this year to ensure an even more successful performance. Before the concert, K-4 students will meet in their classrooms and will be brought in to the gym together by a teacher/staff member. During intermission they will be brought back to their classrooms, where parents will pick them up. At that point parents can bring them home or bring them back into the gym to sit with them while the 5/6 ensembles perform. Older students will sit with families during the K-4 performances. During intermission they will get their instruments ready for band and sit in a designated spot on the gym mats at the front of the audience. All students should arrive at 6:15 p.m. News from the Art Room Fine Arts Night Fine Arts Night, Rumney’s student art show is Thursday, June 7 from 6-7:30pm. Please join me in honoring our students by stopping by and viewing the artwork created by K-6 grade artists. FAN runs like a gallery opening so come anytime between 6-7:30 and stay as long as you wish! Work will be on exhibit in the gymnasium, the library and in the hallway glass case. Refreshments will be served. Hope to see you there! Art Show Volunteers! I could use a few extra hands to help prepare tape and label student art for the show. If you are interested and are in a spot to donate an hour or so of your time, I would love to have you. I will begin hanging art on Tuesday, June 5 and continue on Wednesday, June 6. Please contact me if you know you can put this on your calendar now, but I will send a reminder for volunteers as the dates approach. Student Artwork All student artwork will be coming home with your child(ren) after the art show, but before the end of the school year. Students make portfolios in which to carry their art home, and clay pieces are
wrapped carefully for safe travel on buses, but if you prefer, you may pick up your child(ren)s art. Please let me know if this is the option you prefer and I'll make arrangements with you for pick-up. As always, student art is exhibited throughout the halls, and in the gallery space outside the art room. On exhibit now are paper weavings by first and second grade, hand-colored block prints by fifth and sixth grade, clay animals by Kindergarten, and clay expression masks by third and fourth grade. 2018-19 Residency Committee It is time to decide on a residency for the 2018-19 school year. If you are interested in being part of a residency committee, please let me know. Committee members look for viable options for artists, and once potential artists are narrowed down, each member will call to find out details such as availability, overall cost, the program they offer, etc. We don't usually meet more than twice. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Thanks so much! Jennifer Campbell

Friendly Reminder Please remember Vermont’s No Idling Statute. Please keep engines off if you are waiting. Thank you.
Learning Community Announcements The 6th graders are raising money for the Central Vermont Humane Society. Donation jars are located at the front office. The 6th grade students are also doing a bottle drive/drop at the school as a fundraiser for graduation and their end of the year trip. There is a container by the main entrance to put returnables in. If you have more than a bag or two that you would like to donate, please call or text Branden Pecor at 802-557-1831 to arrange a time and he will come get them from your house. Thanks in advance for your support of the Rumney 6th grade class!
The Rumney lobby houses donation boxes for the Middlesex Food Shelf. The Middlesex Food Shelf is stocked and open to all community members from our town, and any town. The Middlesex Food Shelf is located on Church St, near the Town Hall, and is open each Saturday from 9-10:30AM. Stop by and fill two grocery bags with staples for your family. There is always Red Hen bread to pick up and often fresh produce. Our Rumney donation boxes have made a BIG difference this year! We have helped to keep the shelves full of non-perishables. The current need is for shampoo, toothpaste, canned cat food (not dry), paper towels, toilet paper, dish detergent, and cleaning supplies. All donations are welcome and appreciated. If you have questions about the Middlesex Food shelf please contact food shelf director Ethan Scharf
[email protected] or Honi Bean Barrett
[email protected]. Come visit the food shelf soon! --------------------------------------------------------------- Learning Community Announcements Please contact Alissa Barracks
