RETURNING STUDENT ARRIVAL INFORMATION

RESIDENCE HALL INSTRUCTIONS

Upon arrival, students should report directly to their residence hall and be prepared to pay optional hall dues ($20) when they check in. Students may move in to their residence from 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19 or after 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 20. Please be aware you will not be able to arrive prior to the dates indicated. Any student unsure of their residence hall assignment upon arrival to campus should report directly to the Residence Life Office on the 1st Floor of Gregory Hall. Students without a residence hall assignment, that want to live on campus, should contact the Residence Life Office by Wednesday, August 16 at 716-673-3341.

Mailing Address Residence hall students will be assigned a mailbox in their respective hall upon arrival and should notify correspondents of their exact address. The correct address should read:  Your name  Residence Hall and Room number  280 Central Ave.  Fredonia, NY 14063 Off-campus residents will receive mail directly at their local address. Please confirm your mailing address in “Your Connection.” ResNet The ResNet Office is an Information Technology helpdesk that provides services and support for students, staff and guests living in the residence halls. ResNet provides customer service through the use of telephone, email, and face-toface assistance to students, staff and guests living in Fredonia residence halls with information technology related items. The ResNet Office is located at 154 McGinnies Hall and can be reached at (716) 673-3668, or www.fredonia.edu/resnet, or [email protected]. Normal business hours are M-F: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Veteran’s Benefits Eligible veterans and children/spouses of veterans whose deaths or permanent total disabilities were service-connected are reminded to contact the VA Coordinator during the summer at 716-673-3423. The Veterans Affairs Office is located in 154 McGinnes Hall.

OFF CAMPUS RESIDENTS Those students not living on campus are required to update their local (off-campus) address in Your Connection before September 1, 2017. As a reminder, all enrolled Fredonia students are expected to live respectfully and responsibly in the community. Please refer to the Off-Campus Living Guide on the Campus Life webpage for helpful tips and best practices, as well as information regarding a student’s rights and regulations.

(FREDCard, Meal Plans, Debit Account, Bookstore, Dining Services) FREDCard (ID Card) Every student will be required to have a FREDCard. There is no charge for the initial card or the first replacement card. All subsequent cards have a replacement fee of $20.00. You may obtain your FREDCard at the FSA Office beginning on Friday, August 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, August 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21 through Friday, August 25. Meal Plans All on-campus residents are required to have a meal plan and must select from Residence Life meal plans #1 through #5. Beginning on Friday, August 18, meal plans will be activated and the FREDCard must be presented. Normal weekly meal plans begin with brunch on Sunday, August 20.

If you do not yet have a meal plan, please go to the FSA Office in Gregory Hall on Saturday, August 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or Sunday, August 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to select a meal plan. Bookstore The Bookstore is located on the 1st floor of University Commons and online. There you can find textbooks and course materials as well as a variety of personal care items, clothing, gifts, and snacks. Normal operating hours for the Bookstore are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Bookstore offers extended hours at the beginning of each semester for your convenience. Dining Services A complete list of daily operation hours for all of the dining services, including Tim Horton’s and Starbucks, available on campus can be found at http://fsa.fredonia.edu

COURSE REGISTRATION

Your Connection

Registered students may make changes to their schedules online until 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22. Any student that does not have access to make schedule changes in Your Connection should contact the Office of Academic Advising in Reed Library at (716) 673-3188. As a reminder, Fredonia students receiving federal and state financial aid must meet established Good Academic Standing standards to qualify for subsequent payments. Students should be aware of the policies and discuss eligibility for aid with their advisor prior to the withdrawal from a particular class, withdrawal from college, or requesting a leave of absence. If you have questions, please contact the Financial Aid Office at (716)-673-3253.

Transcripts/Transfer Credit Students that may have taken classes over the summer at other institutions should have official college transcripts, sent directly to the university at the following address prior to arrival: Registrar’s Office Reed Library 280 Central Ave. Fredonia, NY 14063 Questions regarding transfer credit may be addressed by contacting Helen Leysath at (716) 673-3171 or [email protected].

Payment in full of all university charges, less approved financial aid, must be made by the due date on your semester e-bill. Semester bills are only sent electronically, you may view your ebill by clicking on “View eBill” after logging into “Your Connection.” Payments made after the due date will be assessed a $30 Late/Administrative fee for a balance due of $30 or more. Registration of Motor Vehicles All motor vehicles parking on campus must be registered. Vehicle Registration and issuance of parking stickers will take place at New Student Orientation on Friday, August 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in the Williams Center during the first week of classes. Please be sure to register your vehicle by Friday, August 28 as University Police will begin ticketing unregistered vehicles on Monday, August 31. To register your vehicle you will need the license plate number for each car you are registering and your FREDCard.

In addition, the Financial Aid Office will be in the Williams Center on Monday, August 21 to distribute work study assignments to those that are eligible. Transportation Fredonia may be reached by bus, plane, train, or car. Buses from all points arrive on campus daily, and persons traveling by car can take the New York State Thruway (Exit 59) or Routes 5, 20, or 86 (to 60 from the Southern Tier Expressway). It is recommended that students traveling by train or plane arrive or depart via Buffalo/Depew, NY (45 miles east of Fredonia). The university does operate a private shuttle bus to the Depew Train Station (not the Exchange Street Station) and the Buffalo Airport during major travel weekends. Information about the shuttle bus and other transportation services may be found at www.fredonia.edu/tickets or by contacting the Central Ticket Office at 716-6733501. Health Insurance Health Insurance is strongly recommended for all uninsured students. However, all International Students are mandated to carry health insurance. Please contact the Office of International Student Services at (716) 673-4975. Banking Personal checks made payable to FSA will be cashed (up to $25.00 per day or up to $25.00 over the purchase amount).
