We have two DOD funded studies, one to accelerate recovery from the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and the other focusing on Traumatic Brain Injuries for veterans to get help and receive treatment. The SVP provides free services to the veterans who are undergraduates or thinking about returning to school. The Student Veteran Project assists veterans who participate in the research program to learn skills and access services which will assist veterans meet their educational goals and further their educational attainment. SVP acts as “personal trainer” to help the veteran enter or re-enter the education system. Things SVP can assist with: Work with veteran and family members to identify the colleges that are best for the veteran, understanding the transition to the student role and its effects on veteran’s family, providing cognitive testing, counseling (individual, group, couples and family), and finding resources to assist veterans and their families.
