Introduction Airlangga Medical Scientific Week (AMSW) 2017 is an annual scientific competition held by Airlangga University Faculty of Medicine. This year AMSW uphold the theme “Antimicrobial Resistance: toward zero antimicrobial abuse in society” as a reminder for health major undergraduate student to take part in the effort to suppress and control the evergrowing antimicrobial resistance. This year, AMSW is taking a big leap to hold International Research Paper Competition for health major undergraduate student all over the world. Theme for Research Paper Competition There are no certain theme for Research Paper Competition Participant Participant of AMSW 2017 International Research Paper Competition are active undergraduate student from health major proven by student identity card that must be submitted along with the abstract. Final Round Authors of abstract that pass the first round have the chance to attend research paper oral presentation on September 29 th and 30th 2017 at Airlangga University Faculty of Medicine. Abstract Submission Date The abstract submission is open from May 8th 2017 until July 23rd 2017. Abstract Format The most important function of the abstract is to show that you have a contribution on competition and second, to lure audience, reader, and judge about your research. Abstract will only take into account on abstract selection phase. The abstract must fulfill the following requirements: 1. Abstract must be written in English 2. Abstract is limited for 350 words excluded title, name of the authors, affiliations, and the correspondences. 3. Abstract is based on research result, and closed for case studies, reviews, and literature studies, even meta-analysis. 4. Abstract must be an original work, and never published on any journal, nor presented on any scientific event/conference. *There is no actual rule of writing an abstract, although these guideline might help you to go the next round. Before read the guideline, please keep in mind that the maximum number of words in abstract is 350
Abstract Guideline 1. The abstract must have following subheadings: 1. Title Title must be short and clear, and represent your research. If possible, you should include the major result. Don’t forget to make your title interesting in order to make people continue reading. 2. Introduction State your background information and the aim of the study in the introduction. 3. Method State your method with clearly variables comparison. 4. Result 5. Conclusion Conclusion should contain your findings and implies. Based on experiences, conclusion is the second step people will consider your research is awesome. So, be careful to state your result imply, but keep in mind not to conclude more than your research. 6. Keywords The keywords must be found on PubMed, based on MeSH search. 2. Abstract must be written down in A4 paper, Times New Roman 12pt font. 3. Abstract should not contain any special characters, e.g. å, ã, æ, ç, ê, and ï. 4. Abstract must be submitted on .pdf and .docx format.
Abstract Scoring The abstract scoring is done through several steps. The first step is based on format and originality of the abstract which is done by machine to ensure the objectivity of assessment. The second step is blind abstract assessment in which is all done by judges grouped into three clusters: 1. Biomedical research 2. Clinical research 3. Public health-prevention and epidemiology research Judges are the expert staff of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga. Judges will consider the abstract scoring by following criteria: 1. Originality and creativity (20-30%) 2. Beneficence (20%)
3. Data relevance (15%) 4. Problem analysis and synthesize (20-30%) 5. Recommendation (10%) 6. Grammar, for non-English country (5%)
Steps of Abstract Submission 1. Abstract must be submitted to

The Abstract (in .pdf and .docx format) b. Letter of originality (in .pdf format) c. Curriculum vitae of the authors (in .pdf format) d. Student’s identity card (in .jpeg format) All of the files must be submitted before July 23rd 2017 23.59 GMT +7 3. Letter of originality and curriculum vitae template can be downloaded on www.amswfkunair.org 4. Committee will not accept abstract sent after July 23 rd 2017. 5. After the committee received your submission, an acceptance email will be sent to you within 3 x 24 hours after your submission.
